averagedawg so right. Next season with the receivers we have, going to be a lot of holes in the defenses for a great tightend to have big games. We are getting there averagedawg, get that offensive line stroking, hitting on eight cylinders, sky is the limit. :)

Buc, you called it a long time ago about CWF. Believe you were dead on. I have confidence he will put a good o line on the field next year. Unfortunately, I think the real concern is finding a RB to want to dominate the game. Someone step up.

Orson, what a great talent, and an even better kid. Wish the best of luck to him. Wish we would have used him more as all of us do, but I also think other defense probably had something to do with that. I know if I were game planning against our Dawgs, he would probably be the guy I would highlight in the passing game. His skill deserves so much attention because of the mismatch he creates. Good Luck Orson.

I wish him nothing but the best of luck at the next level.

I'm not sure I agree with anyone saying he was under utilized. He was our leading receiver
this season. Last season he was our 4th leading receiver, but almost tied for 3rd with
TK, and only truly behind Durham and AJ. Even then he was only 6 receptions short of
Durham's totals. Go back another year and he was our 3rd leading receiver, only a couple of
catches shy of being #2.

I wouldn't really call that under utilized for a TE.

I do not believe he was utilized to his potential. Here are a couple of stats that make me feel this way.

USC - O catches
UT - 1 catch for 10yds
UF - 4 catches for 31yds
AU - 1 catch for 5 yds

So in 4 critical SEC games he had 6 catches for 46yds. That doesn't and shouldn't happen. Yes, we won 3 out of 4 of those games, but somehow, with the abilities that he had, we should have figured a way to get him the football more. As said, defensive coverages probably had a lot to do with that, but still.
Orson also had a few drops, but just about every receiver does.

I think what we are trying to say is that, yes he was productive. But when you look at the kids physical gifts, did we get the production we should have from him, NO. I will jump out on a limb, and sure some will disagree, but OC was probably one of the most physically gifted TE's I have seen.

Just for conversation sake. I would not be floored if he returned, don't think so, but never know about the Orson Charles type. If we had not taken care of the gators this season, believe he would have returned.

Some of the folks that I know over Tampa way said that Charles and AM wanted more than anything to beat Florida. We did . . . heck yes we did!! :)

Well there's a couple of things to reinforce....

Yes, the defenses had something to do with that... probably a LOT. Plus in those games where he didn't have that many catches, covering him probably opened up things for some other receivers.

Plus... your examples of him being under utilized all come from a season where once again... he
was the leading receiver on the team. Could he have done more? Sure, I guess... but I can
probably go look at stats for any individual game and say so and so wasn't utilized properly.

I think with Bobo at the offensive helm, there will always be times when you wonder why
this or that wasn't utilized more. He's the king of abandoning things.

Plus I know it's shocking with our great offensive line, but sometimes a TE is called on to
stay in and block. Being an awesome TE isn't just about catching passes. I guess I can agree
if you look at receptions only you can say we could have utilized him even more, but for me
it's not such an egregious mistake. He was utilized quite a bit... once again: leading receiver
on the team for 2011.
