What if ?

averagedawg, as you know there has been bad blood between these two schools like forever. With last years happenings, you are right in your assessment.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out with the two different personalities of the head coaches.

Not a doubt in my mind that Chizik will be showing his butt, same as last year. (Don't believe that statement, look at the youtube post) Who knows, maybe this will be the game that Richt fights fire with fire. A little more of the "end zone" action we used against the gators. Also, we will not be apologizing later on to their head coach for our actions. Don't like that.

There will probably be some posts here about us keeping our heads and not pulling a "Grantham/Franklin" exhibition. To those I say . . . . I am not one that buys "Turning the Other Cheek" in every circumstance.

This is going to be a game that we (UGA) needs to be involved in. Auburn is not the best football team in the country, but they will pop you in the mouth every chance they get. Watch those chop blocks fellows, they will win any way that they can.

Don't like this bunch of wareagletigers or whatever they call themselves, never have. Sure as heck won't be apologizing to them for taking a "shot or two". All is far in love and war . . . this should be a war, if for no other reason than last years game when I actually saw Richt get involved with the refs and almost, almost show his butt.

Grantham . . . . . turn'em loose.

I really dont have a problem with teams playing hard and getting worked up into a scuffle here and there, what I dont want to see is dirty plays. Something designed to purposefully harm another player just doesnt have a place in my book of plays. The Dawgs have been victimized a couple of times this year and we all talked about it,but, we're no angels. This game, of all the games we play year in and year out, seems to be the one always pointed to as the most physical. Lets just GATA DAWGS! Good ole SEC football, thats all! NOW SIC'EM

The sun shines on a different Dawg every day

growl, of course I don't see every play in every game. I do however see a lot of plays from watching football for a few years and last years exhibition was not one player doing all of the damage. It was one player that did not give a hoot and it appeared that the opposing coaching staff had no problems with his actions.

If anyone recorded the game, take a look at the chop blocks. That bothers me more than a lot. Throwing a fist at a playrs helmet on hurts the fist. A chop block ends the only hope that some of these young men have to come close to making a living down the road.

Your statement about this game being the most physical, could not agree more. Has been that way since the beginning. What bothers me is if we have one coach that allows certain things, and the opposing coach does not, there is something wrong with that picture. In my way of thinking. Especially when the SEC front office permits it.

Last years game was out and out a slap in the face of SEC officiating. Again, all anyone has to do is look at last years game, or talk to AM or a couple of the linemen that were chopped. If the officials are going to allow that kind of football to be played . . . then it has to be shared.

Anyone that believes that Dyer does not need help from his offensive line to gain those yards, guess we are on separate pages.

Agree with wanting to see a good old fashioned football game, only problem with that is this being 2011, not 1950. No face masks then, fists hurt, not today. Chop blocks will be used by Auburn, anyone taking that bet? They have been taught to disable and win.

One more thingy, think you and I are on the same page growl. As you know sometimes I get a bit worked up, but believe what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Step up Dawgs, this is Auburn/UGA. Hatfields and McCoys. If that needs an explanation, I am truly on the wrong page.

Go Dawgs!! Much to be gained in this game. ;)

I hope the officials come to the game ready to play, cause the teams are going to be ready for anything. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I'd like to see a well officiated ballgame, something we have been lacking over the last few years. If they do the job right, and let the teams play, throw a flag when a flag should be thrown and separate the players, then it will be a great game to watch and the best team will win, not the dirtiest. I'll guarantee you the Dawgs will not be standing around with their hands in their pockets and getting caught by surprise this year, not after the way these thugs acted last year. GO DAWGS

Bump!

Not like you just rode up growl. Like you said earlier, this game produces a lot of "action".

Most of my life I have noticed that the "team" takes on the "flavor" of the "headmaster".

Beginning to think that this group in Athens is more sincere about "team" play that the garbage that was apparently being spewed not too long ago.

I know that some on this board do not like my straight forward approach, I certainly accept that, could not change it anyway.

This is the first time in several years that I have felt we (UGA) had a chance to move up and with a little time and preparation be RESPECTED again. Once upon a time, and I am not writing a fairy tale with the "once upon a time" folks in the SEC and elsewhere did not like to play the Red and Black. Correct me if I am wrong, have not seen that in a while.

Grantham might turn out to be less than what some of us think . . . . in my mind that would be ok, at least we changed our attitude. We should never accept . . . . know this is going to cause a couple of problems . . . . not going to say it.

We hear how we have not "played anyone" since we began our 7 game winning streak. That might be true, but I can pull a couple of posts and threads up that warned you and I about Miss State and others, including the gators. We get on top of Auburn, I know one household that will be very happy. Sound like someone looking for another head coach . . . . that area belongs to Richt. Defend your territory.

I really like SEC football, I really dislike Auburn University and their tactics in the Chizik era.

Go Dawgs!! Here is hoping that we play football on both sides of the ball. It will take that.
