Buc, Gotta disagree on one hting you said about CTG. His year as DC of the Cleveland Browns was a good one. They finished #10 in the NFL that year in total defense. he did his job. The offense did not. I believe the whole coaching staff was fired .
He knows what he is doing.
As far as offense. First, I hate to be negative. But I am looking at this from the stanpoint of how does UGA get to Bama's level. I don't look at it as how do we stay pretty good.
That said, there is a weak link that will prevent us from getting past LSU/Bama and that is Bobo.
Yes, those TD passes were awesome. But look at them. Those are low % plays, and that is what we have drawn up every time. We have no intermediate passing game. We have no 5 yard dump off if the bomb isn't there.
Teams don't have to cover our RB's out of the back field; they don't have to cover our TE's until they get 10 yards down the field. I know that so i am pretty sure defenses know that.
CMR: Please!!! Listen!!!! In the offseason, give your friend Ralph Friedgen a call. Please. We need a very smart man to go up against very smart DC's in the SEC.
Do you all realize that if two players don't make very difficult catches that we lose against a team that: had 14 penalties, a cripple at QB, 3 turnovers, 12 minutes less than us on time of possession, ONE first down in the second half, 10 yards TOTAL offense in the 4th quarter???? We would have lost. Let that sink in. it has for me.
Now, I for one refuse to forgive Bobo and CMR's offensive philosophy. Richt can stay for all the reasons that have been mentioned on these boards before, but I'm not letting Bobo off the hook.
That isn't being honest with the situation at hand.
Can you imagine an offense next year with IC curling out of the backfield on an 6 man blitz?? Lobbed right over the defensice line, that's 10-20 yards safely.
