Before VP Gore created these "INTERNETS", this argument was usually held at tailgate spots before and after another Goff loss. "You're not a true fan unless......."...The rhetoric and rancor was confined to remote conversations and the occasional post-game caller. Coach Donnon was the first Dawg Coach to suffer the collective voice of an internet informed public. Unfortunately, Jim was ill prepared to deal with this aspect of "fanatic" input, which I personally believe led more so to his demise than his win/loss ratio. Nonetheless, we fans choose to express our delight and/or disappointment based completely on our personal perspective. Therefore, it just isn't possible to articulate a cogent agrument to support either side of "true fan", when the methods employed to define your fanatic barometer is personal!
I first joined this site in the late 90's when a handful of crazy dawgs battled nerds, hillbilly's, tigerwareagleplainsmen and out of conference foes, that used this new forum as a conduit to spread their ill will, particularly AT us. I've seen what a unified voice can do to inspire and promote growth, suggest change AND demand it!...Along with this board I frequent and post on several others and the arguments are all relatively the same, then and now. For me, the mere fact that individuals are willing to offer an opinion, whether positive or negative, is the very definition of a fan, short for fanatic! If you are here, on the Rant, Rivals, Run or whereever and you opine because you want CMR to stay or go,...or whether you are in the parking lot of the Psych. Bldging, under your UGA tent lamenting about losing to USUCK,...again,...we are all fanatics, true blood red, Dawg Fans!...I may not agree with your opinion but I don't have to....
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!
