The answer to the question is easy in my mind. Tradition. We love our long line of traditions and UGA. Glory, Ringing the Church Bell, Tail gating on the North Campus lawn, etc..

Look at the amount of turmoil caused by the changing of our traditional uniforms. Imagine the ruckus changing the breed line would cause. You go and get a bulldog from any old breeder, we are no different than any of these other pin head schools would sale their tradition for a few cents. I am willing to wait and I'm willing to keep the UGA mascots where they traditionally came from.

Thanks FlyinDawg, I appreciate your thoughts on that. I'm all for the tradition on this as well. But, I feel we've reached neer end to this line.

Did UGA I come from from this same line of English Bulldogs?

I'm not a vet and will surely not admit that have much knowledge where the first UGA (UGA I) came from and probably need educating on this in a big way. Though, I do recall rumors there being a goat as a mascot in the early years. Don't know how true that is. I've heard that since I can remember.

But my thinking is there have been way too much breeding going on down in SAvannah. I can't count on my fingers and toes and all of the fingers and toes in my house including pets how many people have said their bulldog is a relative of the original?? UGA. I'm sure most of those are telling a white "tail" but still, I think there needs to be a game change if we can't keep one with us very long.
