My opinion, anyone that goes "public" about two schools and basically says they are dead even, is most likely craving attention, and is also challenging the schools to break the tie by what they can offer him--a la Cam Newton. He's said pretty much everything from academics to coaches is the same, so who's going to break the tie with some "under the table" offers?? (Hint--he will be wearing crimson) Point being, if the media would stop sucking up to these prima donnas and giving them all the spotlight and printing this useless garbage, it would prevent some of this gold digging.

Still trying to sell that newsprint. Internet has changed a lot of how "business" is done.

The only advantage the "reporters" have over the rest of us is this . . . . they have that little badge on their lapel. How many on this board get the morning or evening newspaper? Some of these folks have never touched a football much less try to explain the game to us. They are fed what it is that the NCAA, SEC and Universities want us to know.

Football is changing folks. Might not go for pessimisim, if not, guess someone needs to show some of us what has happened to our game. No more Friday nights under the lights, where it is about high school football. It is all about the stuff that they are shoveling our way and it stinks.

Interesting thoughts guys. I didnt take much from the article concerning the kid. After all, he is a "rising junior". What stood out to me more were his comments about the schools and coaches. Saban is full of $#!t. End of story. He may be one helluva coach, but he seems to flat out LIE to these kids and thier families. I am sorry but I will take the moral high ground w/ Coach Richt over that crap. Any day of the week.

In this day and time, I totally agree with you. Can't buy integrity......the lack of it always rises to the top eventually.

Been doing a lot of reading over the last couple of months. Haven't had much time to comeent because luckily work has been busy. Have been doing a lot of thinking about this thread.

I look at our HC. Richt has won a lot of football games. He has molded a lot of young men to be people in society that we all like seeing. He has been very loyal to our university. He is a high character individual who I believe would stay at UGA for as long as we would keep him. I am sure he has had opportunities to move else where. Especially throughout the first 7 seasons, but he hasn't and I don't believe he ever would. He bleeds red and black. I look at comments made by AM and BJ. I think it is clear how these 2 quality young men feel about Richt.

Then, I look at a guy like Saban,or Chizek,or Meyer, or even Tressel. Yes, they win a lot of football games. But look how they do it. This is my outlook on those 4. Meyer seemed to get more publicity than his team. I think he enjoyed that. Why would you step down before your bowl game. If he didn't want the attention, why didn't he just wait until after the bowl game? I just don't like that. Then, the following year he steps down after a terrible season. I have to question his character. Chizek may soon be experiencing what Tressel is going through. Yes, they have both won NC's, but if or when the NCAA comes down on the schools, is it going to be worth it. Saban is tougher to point negatives. He is a helluva coach. My only problem with Saban is loyalty. He will stay at bama for a long time and to me it is simple. No other school can pay Saban what Saban is making. I wonder what happens after he thinks there is a better opportunity. Hence, LSU to Miami, then Miami to bama. I willing to bet in a few years if someone comes offering more money, he is gone.

Then, I come back to Richt. I can't remember a time when I questioned the man's character. I am like the rest, I have wanted to ring his neck of some decisions, but I have never looked at the man and thought he had character issues. Yeah, he is not animated on the sidelines, or whatever. But I was brought up with the, Walk silently but carry a big stick.

I guess my point is, we have a coach with high character that I have not questioned. And he has won a lot of football games.

Sorry for the long thread, but just something I have been thinking about lately.
