Good Morning All,

Time to test the waters, aka opening a can of worms?

Starting with an undefeated season and a National Championship.

Walking backwards from there what makes for:

1. A Great Season?

2. A Good Season?

3. A season that CMR is retained.

I understand winning a NC; these questions are just to spark a conversation.

For Myself,

1. Win the East, play for the SEC Title win or lose - BCS bowl and win.

2. Beat BSU – Lose to USC –(only loss) Beat UF & Tech go to a top tier bowl and win.

3. This is where the cheese gets to be a wee bit more biding. Lose to BSU & USC-shut out both UF and Tech and win by 21 points- and win an upper level bowl.

It is highly unlikely that Mac would fire CMR midseason IMO.

Is there a magic number of wins that would make CMR job safe? Wins over whom by how much? Anymore than 3 losses is he toast?

We now have more questions than answers that will change starting Sept.3rd

It was far from another quite week in Athens. The fertilizer factory is running again. “Plane Ticket Gate” Damn I was hoping for a dull uneventful summer.

Another long holiday weekend that finds us giving thanks to our military for the freedoms we enjoy. Wishing everyone a safe 4th and a great week.

Pause and give thanks… As always “Go Dawgs”!!!!

As far as I'm concerned to keep CMR, it's not a win-loss scenario. We need to win the east and beat UF. If we can't accomplish that in a down year for the east and a rookie coach at UF, there is no hope for CMR, IMO. (I don't think there's much hope for him anyway, but if he proves me wrong, I'm ok with that.)

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Might surprise some to read this. If Richt loses three games, don't think that he will lose his job. Guessing, think that McGarity would give Richt one more year. Reason for that thinking is it will erase all doubts one way or another as to whether Richt can get UGA back in the limelight.

The last two recruiting years have been Richt's recruits, especially the last group. He was feeling the pressure, pressure was relieved somewhat by McGarity, and Richt went into the homes and convinced what many see as stars heading to Athens.

Hard for me to believe that all new pieces to the puzzle will play to the extreme expectations from the get go. This is after all the SEC, some do well quickly, doubt that all will. This is where I think McGarity's going to show a small amount of patience. Another season out, that is truly where the rubber meets the road.

All of this will not fall on Richt alone. Second year for Grantham, defense should be better. Third year, with two years under his SEC belt, Grantham should be ready for the wars every Saturday. He also should have the players he wants, does not have to have position changes and can recruit that way. Makes a huge difference.

Many are saying that the cream of the crop seems to be heading to the State of Alabama and other places of course. The reason for that is pretty simple in my estimation. National Championships are hard to recruit against. When was our last one? Maybe Herschel's visit opened the young studs eyes to how the game should be played.

Have to say this. It amazes me that it took Richt so many years to figure out what was happening to his team. Reminds me a bit of Obama, hand everything down and let others decide the future of the program. Richt needs to step up, or resign. I believe he tried to do a decent job in Athens, he however has had a funny way of showing it in some of his interviews the past three or four years.

We had an athletic director that liked to "panty raid", other side of the coin we have a head coach that seems to be just the opposite. I think that the answer is somewhere in the middle, as it usually is when solving any problem.

Sorry to be so long, cup of coffee and a couple of valid questions that you ask sparked the old fart.

Keep them on their toes in Athens yankeedawg1. Many on this board have served in the military, none of us lose track of that. These young folks in Afganastan and other parts of the world have live ammo pointed in their direction every waking hour, not just on Saturdays. Think that JTII has opened some of the BMOC's eyes to that, as did Herschel.

Thanks again, have a great weekend. :)

To me a loss to Boise State is the end of the road now. Why? Because I've been truly examining that teams performance from last year. It's one thing to play a weak schedule - heck, WE lost to two PATHETIC teams last year, and I'm NOT counting Florida. However, Boise State went 12-1 against a genuinely embarrassing schedule. The more I examine that schedule, the more I'm convinced that we had BETTER win the first game. We have the superior athletes. We have the greater football tradition. We have home field advantage, and we have had a year to get ready. Lose this game and, as far as I'm concerned, lose the head coach. I'm more and more convinced that Boise State is fake.

In fact, I would say fire him NOW, but it's just too close to the season.

For me, a great season will be one or two losses at the most (good HARD FOUGHT, DOWN to the WIRE games, maybe even a blown call by an official), and a win over a GOOD opponent in a BCS game.

A good season would be only up to three losses, but NOT FLORIDA - I will NOT accept losing to Florida this year. Follow that with a win over a high level team in a bowl, and that's a good season.

To save Richt's job? It needs to be AT LEAST a good season. Great would go a long way towards bringing me back to the bandwagon, and everyone here knows how on the bandwagon I WAS.

A top tier bowl would be a great improvement over the last 2 years....but a loss to the gaytors would be unacceptable to me and if that happens Richt should go....we have the talent to win the SEC.....not just the east and go to a BCS bowl......if Richt beats the gaytors and at the very least get us to a top tier bowl he should be given a little more time to develope the talent he has on board.....I say lets not worry too much about what if.....lets take it one game at a time and beat up on Boise State and take it from there....

1. For me, if we lose to UF, CMR should be fired before he gets on the plane to come back to Athens. Let him rent a car. Love CMR but that would be it for me. (agree with thriller)

2. It depends on "how" the season plays out. If we are a little shaky early and come on real strong the rest of the year and win the East.....I'm good for another year. Let's develope this "Dream Team" of recruits. Buys him another year.

3. If we have a pretty good record, like 8-4 but lose some of the important games....UF, USC, AU, GT.....he's done in my eyes.

4. If I see lack of effort AGAIN, after all that's been so-called positive in Athens.....he's done.

5. I'm personally good if we win the East and beat UF......don't believe we can beat Bama or LSU in Atlanta, so winning the East and kicking UF's butt...I'm GREAT.

Hopefully #5 happens because if these recruits ARE that good, it takes another year or so to develope them, which could steady CMR's ship back into UGA tradition of power.
