Could we lose Nkemdicie?

wlayton, I may be wrong on some of these , but I don't think Green was coached up. I believe he was a 4 star; however, look closely at his comp %. How was he coached up? He won because of defense.

Fernando Velasco, ( I say he was average. No better no worse than any of the other 24 OG's in the SEC)

Mikey Henderson, ( I don't see how he was coached up. His stats show he was mediocre)

Nick Jones, ( was he really coached up, or was he OK?

I would expect that all these players would be decent just for the fact that they made an SEC team--I expect them to be OK.

Pollack and Thomas Davis were coached up by van gorder-they were 2 stars and ended up being first round draft picks............THAT is coached up. I may be wrong, but were any of the players you mentioned drafted in the first round or two?

Greene wasn't a 4 star and is the second leading game winning QB in college football history.......that's in HISTORY. Not shabby. The D was good but you've got to score.

Not saying these OL were great but they were STARTERS in the SEC. You're not going to find a large number of Pollacks at any school.......hmmm, maybe that's WHY they are 3 stars, huh?

Bottom line, if they qualify, get the 4 and 5 star guys.

My point is that of course these guys are gonna start-by definition, they have to. if we recruit 85 oNE stars, then 85 one stars will start; but was Green really coached up? he was a decent QB playing with an ELITE defense in a conference without Meyer/Saban, etc. That is like saying that because we recruit you to UGA and you start, we must be coaching you up.

All I know, his numbers were good. They were great. He was our jay barker. We would have had the same record with many QB's at that time-we were keeping teams to 14-17 points most of the time.

But I understand your point. But to be consistent, Green is the only one you are arguing for.

There is a reason he is our winningest QB-the 12th game; the SEC championships that counted that wouldn't have counted back in the day; the bowl games that wouldn't have counted in the day. He may have won more because he had the best defenses we ever had, but I'll name several QB's who were better and would have won the same games Green did: Bobo; Zeire; Stafford; Shockley;Belue. David Gren was no better as a senior than he was as a sophomore.

Go back and read off the list of guys from that 2002 13-1 team, list the ones you think were STUDS. Most of them were defense. Many of them were 4 star types recruited by Donnan.

We can also name many 4 stars who never got better under CMR.

Geeeeeeezz, been rambling so long I forgot what my original point was on this post:)

First of all, I'm not arguing about anything.....really don't care that much. Most OL are 3 stars at best....so what? Never have said our coaches were all world either.

Imo, Greene was an extension of CMR's "management of the game" when CMR was the OC too. No, Greene wasn't spectacular or flashy....but he was very smart and could manage the game and win it.

Whatever.....we're wasting time and brain power (you'll understand when you get older, there's only so much left) ;)

Oh, I'd say Greene was a pretty dang good 3 star recruit, can't argue his W/L's. If he was the starter EVERYONE would criticize him if he had a BAD W/L record. Nature of the QB, so I WILL state he's the 2nd winningest QB in college history.

I was there for the AU game.

1. The defense stopping AU on SIX STRAIGHT three and outs to close the game is why we won.
2. Not counting the CMR year 1 since Green was only a frosh, but over his last three years, do you know how many teams even hit the 20 point mark against us in the nregular season?? 7 TOTAL!!!! Joe Cox would have won 9-10 games a year with that defense.
3. Greene's senior season he completed 58% for 2,500. That is very good. Not great. Considering we pounded the ball, the % completions should have been higher.
