From Athens - Is it September Yet ?

yankeedawg1 feel this incoming class is going to be leaned on more than any other that I can remember.

Talking football, came across this piece about Boise State. Will be interesting to see Jenkins lined up with this Rimington nominee. Going against a "Top Gun" right out of the box. Maybe Byrd will get to feel the power of Jenkins and Gaithers. Wow!

Boise State University football student-athlete Thomas Byrd was named to the 2011 Rimington Trophy Watch List, an award given annually to the nation’s top center.

Byrd, a rising redshirt senior from San Pablo, Calif., is a three-year starter at center for the Broncos. He was named first-team All-Western Athletic Conference this past season after starting each of the team’s 13 games, and was a key member of an offensive line that paved the way for the Broncos to rank second-nationally in total offense (321.08). Boise State also gave up the third-fewest sacks in the country in 2011 (0.62).

Byrd started each of Boise State’s 14 games as a sophomore in 2010, and the Broncos’ offensive line gave up just five sacks on the season – the fewest in the country.

Atlanta will be hopping for sure.

Thanks for the post yd1 . . . :)

BSU for sure held their own in the WAC, but unless they are extremely fast then I hope they eat their Wheaties before coming to Atlanta. Their biggest Guard is only 305 standing at 6'2. Jenkins alone is pushing 350-360 standing at 6'4. Add Gaithers to the equation and I'm not sure about Mr. Byrd holding his ground. I look for our front seven to cause so much havoc on Moore that he feels like Colt Brennan did in 2007. Its only May but I'm pumped up and drinking my own koolaid about this upcoming game. I know there are many UGA fans that predict easy wins, but the same goes for BSU fans. We'll see in September which type of Dawgs come running out onto the field. By the way I'm sure some of you read that in Atlanta WM GUARANTEED a UF victory over us.

Agree 100% with you Buc about the incoming class.

Plain and simple for 2011...WIN

Expect some coaches, especially first time head coaches to throw out the positive chatter. Nothing wrong with that, however there comes a point in time when you have to do it or eat your words.

UGA scored enough points on UF last year to win (almost). UF's defense was much stronger than this year's version, if only considering the defensive backfield.

As you say born2bAdawg, if the front seven are going to be that good, we should be ready for not only Bosise State, but the JAX game as well. No doubt most experts seem to think our defense is head and shoulders above last years edition.

Hope you are right on the Colt Brennan comparison. From this side of the computer, Colt Brennan is not and was not the quarterback that Moore is. :)
