thriller, glad you are participating on this board. Mean that.
Allow me this . . . . again.
Jacksonville Jag's as I understand it . . . and the rest of the NFL.
Product cost in 2010 up 20%.
Total income up 11%. Numbers do not work.
My bet is that JAX loses the Jags to LA. Market larger, and of course it will give LA another chance to prove that it will not support a Pro Football Team.
Orlando Magic will lose Dwight Howard to one of three teams LA, Boston or New York. My bet is New York. Another "Dream Team Three".
Point I am trying to make is this . . . . Owners started this crap, wanting halos over their heads. Don't give a dadgum if you are Michael Jordan, or Joe Montano, there is a time and place for every part of business. Owners and players are not giving up anything, the college football conferences are giving up what? I see pay raises not only in the SEC, other conferences as well . . . . where is that money coming from? We know.
The owners are now after every penny they can put their hands on. Why? Bad judgment. Guess the fault belongs to who . . . .? Football became a rich persons sport . . . what happened to the BLUE COLLAR folks like us? I have zero respect for the NFL and the Slives and others that represent themselves to be on the up and up with respect to amateur athletics.
The players know that they have a good/great thing going on. That is the reason that they said to the owners, we will keep the same package, however we will cut our union income 10%. Owners rejected the deal . . . why? Because they have allowed these players to grab a foothold and the players can give up 10% and still make MILLIONS.
So where does this leave college/pro football? Players don't give a hoot, they have a contract to play on Saturday's and Sunday's. Where does this leave the owners/conferences, in a damn bind. Ticket sales go down, 11% moves up to 15% or more and costs move up to 25 or 30%. Where in the world does that money come from? Yep.
