Have an Opinion?

Once upon a time in Rip Off Land . . . . .

I carried the Falcon Banner from day 1 of the franchise until 1985. Watched players like Nobis and coaches like Van Brocklin, tough son of a guns. Moved to Florida and my allegiance shifted after all those years to another franchise. Reason, the Smith's did not have a clue, sorry UGA folks, the truth is the truth. Years of misery.

This is what has me scratching my head and wondering what the hell is going on. Blank wants another stadium built on public land, wants bonds to cover half or more of the total cost. Team will chip in the rest. Damn, mighty generous of you Mr. Arthur Blank. Think maybe pushing that wheel chair around earned you enough points to push this one through?

Blank thinks that now is a good time to try and get this thingy through, got a good football team, maybe emotions run high enough for passage. One problem, who the hell is going to be able to affored the price of a ticket in this economy.

The damn NFL is so full of itself, time for some of the "middle class folks" to be heard. Arthur Blank, Jerry Jones you ain't, learn to live with it.

Just want to say, this would be a huge mistake in my way of thinking, and many economist as well. Have always been partial to the Red and Black colors of the uniforms, never real crazy about ownership and management of the team. Remember this Falcon fans, Arthur and his gang are not going to lose a dime. Pathetic.

Free enterprise, build your own stadium, with your accumulated millions, lets not turn this over and make it a "Government Project". Seen enough of that in the past few years, and especially what is going on in Washington now.

Have a nice day! Go Dawgs! :)

Hey Buc, I couldnt agree more. Im a falcon fan, and we dont need a new stadium. And if they do build one, they should pay for it themselves. also if they do build another one they need to build it at the old GM plant site away from Downtown, no place to tailgate there and DT traffic and parking always a nightmare. I use to go to the falcon games next day after the UGA game, but it jus got to be to hard to get up after an all day tailgate in Athens then go to the falcons game. Cause we all know The DAWGS are what really matter in this town. GO DAWGSS!!!

Once A DAWG Always A DAWG

Slight correction OSD...the DAWGS are the team that matters in the entire STATE! The last thing that is needed in GA is a new Falcons stadium. I'm only a Falcons fan because they are the NFL team of the state, but I wouldn't go to a game given what area the stadium is in. Plus, I enjoy watching it from the house more. On board with you, BUC 100%, about the government spending since its bringing the dollar down more every day and not moving us forward as a country at all.

Plain and simple for 2011...WIN

OSD, long time no see.

At some point, and this goes for college football as well as pro, there has to be a change in what "EFFECTS" the "MACHINE" that in the end pays the bill . . . . the "FAN".

There was a time when stadiums did not have to have retractable roofs, sushi bars and the beat goes on. What happened to the way we learned to play and watch the game. Backyard football was a cherished weekend spent with friends and family. Little bit of mud never hurt anyone.

Sorry, and I do believe in free enterprise, I however am against these owners and players that are holding up John Q. Public. This could be changed overnight if just this one plan of restraint were used JUST ONCE. On a Saturday, or Sunday, fail to show our face at the stadium. An empty stadium would bring about changes in college and professional football as no other plan of action would.

The NFL right now is all over every media outlet with their canned jabber. What is the point of contention? That's right MONEY. Whose MONEY, theirs? Nope ours. Has the season ticket holder or casual fan been brought into this money grabbing issue? Nope the owners and players are doing the same thing that the Feds are doing . . . . . gambling with OUR MONEY. Owners and players don't lose a damn thing, we do.

I am tired of these fat cats wallowing in the cash that the Middle Class actually hand over to them without a single pat on the back.

Someone needs to explain to me why a college football player with two years of college should leave and get a contract worth forty or fifty million dollars. This is not a local problem, it is totally occuring from East to West and North to South.

We had a QB leave UGA and sign on with one of the hardest hit areas/states in the country. Unemployment at (real numbers) about 30%, not the 10 or 12 percent that the Federal government likes to falsely present.

What I am trying to say is this . . . . . the game can and should be returned to the people that made the game, you and I . . . the fans. That day is not too far away . . . in my opinion. We the ticket holders are being raped behind closed doors.

Why would I want to pay more to watch a football team with players and owners making millions and what is it that I have to brag about?

Why would I want a high school player that cannot meet SAT requirements be given "special considerations". When young men and women that put forth the effort to make the grades that allow them to participate in sports are being denied. The college system is backwards, and the folks that run our state universities not only allow this, they encourage it by "getting around the rules" that others have to comply with.

AJ meeting with the media at the NFL Combine openly said that he did not fully participate in S&C activities. Guess that probably will cost him a few million dollars. If I were him, would not play, who plays for a measly 4 or 5 million a year coming out of college. Tell that to the folks in Detroit, Atlanta and basically any other city in the country that is unemployed. Waushan was given the boot for S&C problems, AJ, no problem. That speaks to head coaching problems. The more of our coaching history that comes out makes me begin to wonder again.

Go Dawgs! Coach 'em up, both on the field and CLASSROOM.

born2bAdawg, another thing about NFL arrangements. TV deals that are out of sight. That is between the NFL and Media Networks. That is not the problem. The problem is closing the damn books and asking us for more. Just about time for the picket line, fan picket line. Know the one that I refer to . . . . FAN CASH COW. Yep without us, they are toast. Time for some respect not only from the NFL, College Football also. Never liked bullies.

If Blank wants a new stadium have him round up all the guest workers standing outside the Home Depots of metro Atlanta and build one on land he bought. Short of that he can eat poop and become deceased.

States are dealing with tight budgets and are going after education and some dumb ass wants a new stadium to replace the almost new stadium he uses now?
