The lost of Jones and Curran to the NFL draft early prevented this team making greater strides. Depth was an issue. As the season went on, and the players became worn down, the defense began to give up more points. However, look at the numbers early on. We held an improved South Carolina program, the same team that scored 37 points on us last season and 35 on Alabama this season, to 17 points. In fact of the 7 SEC teams that we played in both 2009 and 2010, UGA held 6 of them to fewer points this season. While the defense still has a long way to go, they were greatly improved despite losing key players. Could you imagine if Jones and Curran would have stayed another year? END COPY
No question many problems with the 2010 football team however, what we have in place for coaching on the "D" is not one. SEC denfenses are not like instant potatoes you add boiling water and bam mashed spuds. With or without JH you will see more improvement on "D" side of the ball in year two. Any wise new HC would take a long look before replacing CTG a NFL coach under contract who is tracking progress going forward.

It would be a huge mistake not to let CTG have at least 3 years doing what he does. However, can't see Richt here as headmaster. There is a strong possibility that CTG's defense will be better than good in 2011. That however, does not change some things that need to happen.
It should be about the OVERALL GOOD for UGA.

Unlike wars defense wins football games. He would have no problems hiring a great OC also. Players love him and would run down a Greyhound bus for him.

Spot on Buc... do not toss out the baby with the wash water. I am not beyond looking at CTG as a possible HC at Georgia. There is no question about his passion and desire to win.

yankeedawg1, that is the impression that I get about the players attitudes. Have seen where several of them would as you say run down a Greyhound bus for him. After the commitment was made to hire Grantham, it would in my opinion be a backassward thing to not let him do his job.

For me, I would want a proven HC and UGA's big enough to get one.

Agree yd1 - CTG will be the new HC - MrMack is already lining up potential OC staff
IF he can land that Jenkins guy - the D will be reason we will have a decent season - reguardless of record this year cmr is gone
