There is a lot of upside for next year. Even if Bobo stays, I think lately the offense has had good playing calling. They have had some untimely turnovers that really changed the outlook of a game. Yes, I am about 98% sure we will not have AJ next year. However, AM is going to make a bigger difference than AJ. AJ is a great player, but I think the offense is establishing an identity as a unit, not just a one man show. Just had some really untimely turnovers that we struggled to overcome. King is going to be a nice player. If Bobo stays, hopefully he will realized Charles more. I think the use of Charles is one reason Richt is overseeing more of the play calling. Richt likes using the TE and we are starting to see OC become more of a factor. The defense is going to do nothing but improve. Look at the progress they have made this year. There have been some disappointing moments and there will probably be some more. But overall, they are improving. Overall, they are still young too. Dent, Gamble, and probably Houston will be gone. But there is a ton of talent on that side of the ball and I think it is starting to come out. Seeing Rambo improve thoughout the year, and Ogletree develop is encouraging. Rambo played one of the finest games against UF I can remember a safety playing. He was everywhere. Good combination and they are just a Soph and a frosh.
Bobo and Richt probably tamed Murray down a little to bit at the beginning of the season. Maybe they were smart to do it. I don't know. Your biggest fear as a coach is to put to much pressure on a young kid. Especially with a guy as talented as Murray. You see all coaches do that. Meyer only put Tebow is safe situations his Frosh year. Situations that wouldn't be overbearing on a young kid. We won't have to do that next year. They are not doing that anymore. Regardless of what we think, the kid is confident and playing great football. Somewhat happy they didnt jeopardize that early in the year. Maybe I am wrong. I don't know.
The running game has to be seriously addressed in my opinion. It has gotten better. Maybe the answer was changing the practice's early in the week. I bet they look at doing that again next year. I think Richt has done some good things adjusting during the season. Wish he hadn't waited so long to do it and I think he will learn from it. Now, back to the running game. This is the major flaw with this team. The fall is 2 fold. O-Line struggled in the beginning of the year. Maybe the answer for those guys are the physical practices during game week. I bet that stays around next year. Now the backs. Everyone wants to see a feature back. Don't think we will see the days where on RB carries the ball 25-30 times. Hard to recruit that way. But, I do think a No. 1 back needs to be established. I guess the coaches need to determine what guy that is. One of the backs needs to also take over that role. They are just too inconsistent. When the get the chance to take over, they fumble, or do something to jeopardize that role. One of those guys needs to step up. Maybe IC is the answer.
I would also like to see the ball in Smith's hands more. I think he needs to be converted to an offensive guy. Has the chance to take it the distance anytime he touches it. Has the chance to be a Percy Harvin like player. Not saying he will be the next one, but has that capablity to take a small gain to the house.
Just thoughts for next year. I would like to know what everyone thinks about BS moving to the offense. I think he would be better used there.
