I do believe CMR is doing the best he can. he is who he always has been, low key . when he was on top he was the same. he will get us back IMO GO DAWGS, and I love hearing everyones different opinions that is what makes us better.
OSD, don't take this as crtitcism, just a bit of my opinion.
I believe that Richt is again trying to bail the water out of the boat quicker than it comes in. He slipped there for a while, too long for my liking. Takes a bigger man to admit it than to continue on the road to nowhere.
There have been a lot of voices showing concern for some time now, the voices grew louder and Richt heard them. No longer could coach speak replace what folks witnessed to be the real story.
The most relevant question that I can ask is this . . . . Why did he retain WM for such a long period? A lot of us older folks know this to be true . . . Your so-called friends will be the first rats to jump ship. Proof of this and it was debated on this board, WM refused to help Richt/UGA in our last bowl game. Stuck his lips out, hit the floor kicking/screaming and said kiss my you know what. He made a real nice living at UGA because he had a true friend. This just goes to prove my point above about FRIENDS.
AllDawgs5, could not agree more on the defensive improvement. Not only are the young men on that side of the ball learning a new system . . . some have played a bit of the 3/4 in high school. Nothing like what they are learning now under a proven teacher of the defense. CTG is playing a lot of football players, makes total sense to me. The more that get some real time on the field the stronger we will be down the road. Less teaching will be involved, players can aid one another. We won't recognize the defense as soon as next year. One example I give here . . . . Alec Ogletree, freshman, starting against Auburn I think. Still think he will be a linebacker next year.
A lot of predictions have been made on this board and others about our "recovery". I don't have a crystal ball, however I have had the opportunity to watch this team, this year, and can express an opinion on the defense. Jones, Ogletree, Samuel and others, that is damn scary if that group plays together as linebackers. Platooning the DB's, great move for next year. Dline, not going to worry about that, whom ever is needed will be RECRUITED THIS YEAR. CTG will personally see to that.
Apologize averagedawg, got carried away (again). This team with all of its frustrating losses is head and shoulders above last years team in some areas. Not everywhere of course. This team is better because we seem to have coaches on the D side that understand concepts. We will get a much firmer grip on this team this weekend. Can anyone imagine this team having WM as defensive coordinator and going against Auburn this weekend? I stop.
Go Dawgs!
