Colorado Pred. and Coaching Sit.

For the Colorado game, I think the Dawgs should win by at least 10pts. There is nothing that the Buffs do on offense that is tricky. In the past, they have been a pro-style offense which the D should be used to. The talent level at UGA is far greater than what they have in Boulder. Look for the Dawgs to get it rolling in the 1st half and find a rhythm against a weaker opponent. Talent level across the board is just not comparable. If the Dawgs are not dominant, then we are in for a lot longer year than I ever saw coming. In the last meeting, it was a struggle, but the offense had a lot of drops and I felt like the Dawgs were over looking the Buffs. Shouldn't be the case this year. Talk about a must win game. We are one loss past that. Yes, we are 1-3, but anything less than a 10pt victory would be a little bit of a disappointment.

Coaching situation

I am going to point out some things only as food for thought. If CMR had left UGA a couple of years ago for FSU, or another school, many would have stated that he turned his back on the university. I live in Knoxville unfortunately, and the people around here still consider Kiffin a traitor. In my opinion, what he did was wrong. Fans want loyalty from their HC's. I think everyone would agree to that. I say all that to point out this, we expect a coach to remain loyal to the Dawgs, but as a whole, why should they offer loyalty when 50 percent of the fan base calls for their head after the 1st sign of adversity. Not saying that is happening on this site but I think we can all agree that this trend takes place everywhere.

Make no mistake about it. I am not happy with what the coaches are doing. I do think that Bobo needs to be demoted or fired. But CMR, I do not think that I can honestly say that. He took over a program, the had become a middle of the pack runner. Ray Goff and Donnan struggled and the program had been somewhat down for 10-15 years. Our expectations were always higher than that, but at that time, that is where we were. I watched the UT-UF game a couple of weeks ago, and they brought up a hurtful, but true point. That rivalry controlled the SEC for a decade beginning in the early to mid 90's. In their words "With the emergence of the UGA program, the lineup in the East has changed" We are out of contention this year, and were out of it last year. Before that, we were a major player under Richt. The guy has been there for 10 years and won the championship twice. Finished in the top 10 in the nation a lot more than he hasn't.

With all that being said, changes are going to have to be made at the end of the year. Bobo is just not ready for the OC position. He has had some good years, but who would't have with Stafford, Moreno, Green, and the rest of the above average talent.

I feel I owe it to CMR to give him a couple of years to turn it around. Those couple of years started last year. He has this year to keep figuring it out, and next year is the make or break year in my mind. Anything less than a 9-10 win season next year gets him the gate. Not that I am writing off this year to end up being a decent season, but we are already out of contention in the east. CMR must be a legit contender next year, or my loyalty will be moving to another coach of the Dawgs.

Guys, I also need a little help. I have waited a little to long to book a hotel room for the UGA/ut game. Any help of a place would be appreciated.

AllDawgs5, read your thread a couple of times. Seems to me that you are saying the same things that some of the other posters are saying, including myself. Nothing wrong with that, just stating opinions.

To find a UGA fan that did not want MR from the beginning of his stint until around five years ago. Not a peep.

Personally, I don't doubt for a minute that MR can run the offense and do a bang up job. I do however have a problem with the program as a whole. Coaching, recruiting and player problems both on and off of the field. Not to mention an AD that truly opened Pandora's Box for all to see.

This program is out of control. Don't think that MR can bring a program back that he lost on his own. We, or a lot of us are forgiving folks. The single largest issue that sticks in my mind is that this program (UGA) has had four or five years to stop the above mentioned problems. We seem to only get worse, not improving in areas that will move the program forward.

Have said it before will say it again. MR is/was the leader of this football team. Now the Lone Ranger has come aboard, McGarity. He is the man that has the SILVER BULLET, and the one that will decide what will happen with this program, saying that because we can all understand that this is the President's hire.

Our new AD comes from a program that is not clean. They seem to have as many or more problems than we do. What he witnessed as an assistant at UF, seeing what is going on here in Athens, he is going to fire some of those silver bullets, not hand them out. MR knows right now that a lot of things have to change, throughout the program, if not, I suggest that some of the posts on this board are incorrect. Again, including me. The new AD has to take a stand, the stand that MR has avoided for far too long. He will change some things or he will be called on the carpet.

Richt will do one of two things in the not too distant future. He will bow his back and take over the program (again) and stop what is happening, or, the AD will put an end to the blight that has been spreading far too long in Athens. There is no crawl space for Richt, he is paid handsomely, when the folks start leaving the stadium just after half time, the hand writing is on the wall.

I am going to vehemently disagree with the first poster. This is by no means the first sign of
adversity. Adversity started years ago.

Richt is not a strong leader. Richt does not have the back bone for football it seems. He is paid to do a job. His performance has slipped to the point he should be replaced.

MR was recruited by Miami. Ended up being second or third string.

Tried to play in the pros, Denver. Short time, not even second string. Basically cut.

When he was brought on board by Coach Bobby Bowden, deal was to run the offense (play calling) at FSU. Worked his way in and got to be good at PLAY CALLING. As Swampdog said in another thread, Richt was really good at calling plays, knew how to adjust at halftime.

Here is my question? Did MR forget how to change his offensive setup at halftime? Georgia fans would appreciate seeing some of that "stuff" you did while at FSU.

Did MR hand the keys over to MB and say . . . "Drive the car". Remember the first time you drove a car? Ever talk about some of your friends that never learned how to "Drive a car", however, they still got a license . . . We have a driver behind the wheel of our car that has wrecked, not once, not twice, many times. MR is an enabler, yes, an enabler.

If you are not capable as a head coach or (CEO) to step up and do as a Saban would do, you are at best . . . . . second best. I said it . . . . second best.

Watch the recruiting folks . . . . this could be a "Bad Day at Black Rock".

If Richt continues to allow MB to call the plays the remainder of this season, or, if he is helping MB call the plays, and we don't improve with our "3, 4 and 5 star athletes, makes sense to me that MR is not up to the skills required of SEC coaches.

The SEC is not a friendly league. MR would do well to remember that if you "don't win", you "lose".

Go Dawgs . . . Colorado is HUGE. Not time to talk about the schedule facing us. . . .

We won't lose CMR this year. He'll get another, which is a shame. Much like last year and allowing AM to sit the bench and rot, it'll be one more wasted year until we get back on track. I think he's a great man, but he looked bored on the sidelines, lost even. I think it's time to change, unless we want to continue being that second tier program that always almost makes it.

As for the game, I've been wrong the last three times, so I'm trying a new tack: Buffs 28 Dawgs 7

"The freedom of individuals to verbally to oppose or to challenge police actions without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state."

I have given up predicting anything from now on. No telling which team will show tomorrow evening. My hopes are that the team that played for the start of the 4th quarter against the hogs is in Boulder all night.

I'm turning to divine intervention and praying for a big fat "W". I don't want to be making the trip to Athens for the ugly orange game next weekend stewing over another loss.

MR gets another year after this one IMO. I want changes just like everyone else, but am apprehensive of changing the man in charge just yet. Living in TN I see the debaucle UT has become after firing Fat Phil. Gotta be careful what you wish for sometimes. A swift change in head coach can set a program back another two to three years in recruiting and performance. MB must go. MR needs to have a solid OC on board if he insists on maintaining that CEO type role. He needs to follow Belichik's mantra of, "I cannot do my job if I am doing yours". Obvious need for MR to step in and do Bozo's job right now which is why he must go.
