Bulldogs would have beaten Ohio State

Bulldogs would have beaten Ohio State was created by GatorinGA
Per Jarvis Moss as reported by the Tampa Tribune.

Quote:
GLENDALE, ARIZ. - Sitting at his locker while his University of Florida teammates celebrated a 41-14 annihilation of Ohio State in the national title game late Monday night, Gators defensive end Jarvis Moss compared the previously top-ranked Buckeyes to the other teams on Florida's schedule.

"I can name four or five teams in the Southeastern Conference that could compete with them," Moss said, "and probably have the same outcome that we had."

And then he did. Moss - with a little help from teammate Ray McDonald - rattled off a list of the SEC teams Florida played this season that helped the Gators prepare to crush Ohio State. LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia and Tennessee would have hammered the Buckeyes, Moss said.

Very true...this is what happens when a conference plays in a vacuum. The big 10+1 has two historically goo teams in OSU and UM. The typically beat up on the conference and the sisters of the poor in the MAC and then they meet at the end of the year with great records and the world annoints it the game of the century. OSU added Texas to the schedule for two years and played a great game last year. They beat a mediocre texas this year.

The truth remains that the SEC style is far more aggressive and speedy than the 1974 big 10+1 game. The big 10+1 likes to hire from within the midwestern ranks and the game style never changes or does so slowly. The SEC for better or worse has at least 6 teams completely and totally focused on winning the conference and the national title that rules may be skirted, dollars will be wasted and new things will be tried to get an advantage.

Our conference that used to be all about running the ball and defense is now the most diverse big conference in the nation. Even Alabama throws the ball now. Teams in the SEC will do whatever to win because they know the other power scholls will too so we have to keep up. OSU only has to keep up with UM and vice versa. This conference is brutal.

The big 10+1 kills us in hockey though.

I bet our kids in the south could compete with them in roller street hockey.

True, but they would complain that that is not how the game is supposed to be play and it is to our advantage. I will concede curling to them however.
