Interesting read from Bernie's Dawg Blog. Comments about Coach Lakatos and his techniques. Not a dissenting vote among the top DB's. That is terrific news.

I love how he coaches me. It’s different from last year. He’s more hands-on. When he gets on you, he gets on you in a respectful manner. He’ll coach you hard, but he’s just about football. It’s noticeable. - Nick Williams

It’s more ball. Coach Martinez wanted you to play the man, the hand and basket. He teached that in certain techniques, but coach Lakatos, he wants the ball. Yeah, he wants the ball. - Vance Cuff

My preference is to press. I like being physical and getting up on the line, so I really like it. I think the more we play it, I think everybody enjoys it, and we’re learning the techniques, and the things to get up in the receivers. It’s fun to knock them off their timing and to frustrate them. - Brandon Boykin

Basically, jamming, that’s what most corners really don’t know how to do real good. - Branden Smith

That's a pretty good sampling and the message is clear. They're happy with the new philosophy.

I'm so glad the DB's are getting in the receiver's face and jamming them off the line. Aggressiveness.......I like it.

Almost two years ago, year and one-half anyway, you were one of the first on this board to say that our DB's needed to be coached up.

sadlerdawg, you have to be pleased with Coach Lakatos. Stand by SS, this is one of the coaches that handed it to you last year.

sadlerdawg, so glad that the changes were made on defense. Made on defense and we have not seen this group play a single SEC down yet. SOMETHING MUST HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH WM AND HIS DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR WAYS. Have yet to see a single player say that they want to return to WM's defensive (??) strategy.

sadlerdawg, I AM STANDING THE "F" BY!!!!

Thanks Buc

Think the article points out what we've all known for some time - our defensive strategy was poor and we needed a change - WE GOT ONE - it has been good to hear that the players have bought into this new strategy

Sounds like so far that the offense is having some difficulty with this new defense in practices

My concern is that CMB better be coming up with some new strategies of his own - to learn how to compete against competent defenses - they haven’t see it in practice the last few years and they haven't done very well in games against competent defenses
