SEC Expansion

Well, Mike Slive has announced that Texas and Texas A&M are going to get SEC invites. More importantly, he's also announced that the SEC will not invite any ACC teams, which of course eliminates the possibility of bringing in Tech, VaTech, Clemson, F$U, or Miami.

It looks like we'll expand to a 14-team league, adding Texas A&M and (WTF?) Memphis. Two crappy teams to water down the conference. What the hell. Useless.

Yo kd

getting texa&m away from texas will be like pulling eye teeth - but they are entertaining the idea - we may have to take another texas team - TCU might be a good add - them with texa&m would surely give us a tvmarket share of the dallas/houston tvmarkets

vatech would like to come to the SEC - but like you said - they may not be able to without the ugly sister - but hear SEC would really like vatech and a nc school for the east - 2 new tvmarkets

seems like the politicains are getting involved every where - you can't take this school without taking this one etc

oh well - guess we'll maybe find out this week - what ever happens - it'll be interesting to hear about the details of all the \"deals\" that were struck or lost

83 days till the first whuppin

Texas is scared of the competition.

And FedEx CEO said yesterday they would pay any BCS conference $10,000,000 a year to take on Memphis.

Just read where texas is working very hard to keep the big12 - probably adding TCU and SMU are the favorites to keep them at 12

If that happens the pac 10 would probably go after utah to make them 12 and maybe it would end there - for now anyway

Kind of reminds me of the bb march madness - all the talk of going to 96 teams and dropping the nit - they only ended up adding 3 teams

Agree with your assessment kentdaddy. Texas comes into the SEC, SEC schools are going to be all over the State of Texas causing recruiting problems for the \"Burnt Urange\". Anyway you look at it, it is Urange.

So, Mr. Smith is willing to pay 10 million every year so his son can QB Memphis. Is that personal money or shareholders money . . . . I wonder. As one blogger posted, hire back the 1,000 employees laid off/fired this past year if FedEx has greenbacks to toss around like that.

Agree Buc - an awefull waste of money when you have laid off workers - I would think that this type of talk would not set too well with stockholders or employees
