Possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read..

Look, I'm an animal rights person. I'm a vegetarian. I use faux-leather products whenever I can, I don't declaw my cats because I think it's cruel, and I refuse to get a dog until I have enough space and time to care for it without crating or tying it up. I even hate killing bugs.

THAT SAID...PETA is #%&#ing crazy. They have no idea what they're talking about, ever. wlayton is right; Uga -- and his littermates -- are better taken care of than any of us are. He stays in a hotel room before every game. His body temperature is strictly regulated during both hot and cold games. He has a personal vet. And sadlerdawg is right: Uga VII is the shortest-lived Uga in UGA's history at only four years of age and only two years' tenure.

I'm no vet, but it certainly looks like Uga VI's Loran's Best died of a congenital heart defect. Congenital heart defects also happen to be the number one cause of death from birth defects during the first year of life...FOR HUMAN BEINGS.

In human years, Uga VII was about 31 (ten years for the first year and seven each additional, am I right, dog-lovers?). That's about the average lifespan for adults who do die of undetected congenital heart defects. In 2005, 192,000 life-years were lost before the age of 55; that means that if you tot up the combined deficit between age of death and age 55 of all the people who died of congenital heart defects in 2005, you'd get about 192,000 years. In human terms, Uga VII did about as well as can be expected.

I agree, UGA is treated like a King, Peta should wish All Dogs had the life of UGA!! Even though UGA 7 died young, he still lived the good life, any dog would be happy to live, or person for that matter. PETA needs to keep after Mike Vick an his kind of curel an inexcuseable lifestyle of dog killing, an fighting. Peta is there own worst enemy when they go after things like UGA7, Its just ridiculus!!! Focus on the real problems PETA, give me ah Break!!!

They live short lives but make up for it with their love.
People die young. Dogs die young.
I heard that one of UGA's relatives will be on the sidelines Saturday.

i think PETA is the most retarded people onj this planet! You know, this pisses me off more than losing to kentucky last week...almost! UGA is a part of tradition and is the most symbolic icon we have at Georgia. I gurantee if you ask people who know nothing about Georgia, what hey would be able to think of first, it would be that damn good dawg. This is a waste of ime talking about a stupid, dumb and inconceivable idea of a robotic UGA. I had heard about this article but i didn't think it would make my blood boil the way it does. I have wanted a bulldog for many years now, and finally told the wife last night that here soon we would have one. She brought up the usual excuses of why not to get one. Talking about the health issues and lifespan and how I have not done my research. Does she realize that i am a Georgia fan? I know my bulldogs and when she argued with me about it last night I almost asked her if she was the mastermind behing all this robot dog bs. I am sorry to rant so long bout this but it is absolutely ludacris to even mention the thought of replacing UGA with a damn piece of scrap metal!

I was trying to cut some meat out of my diet, but this makes me want a baby seal steak or some loin of manatee.

A buddy of mine funs a web site for guys so to speak. Mainly about sports, with a bunch of other stuff thrown in as well. Thier is a story on there about this very subject.
