Real Hope For Change!!

it's the basics. It has been years since the UGA team demonstrated solid fundamentals.

Stafford never got any better at his footwork or his audibles because he never got past the basics. He and Moreno survived on raw talent. Same goes with our defensive stars now in the NFL.

By comparison the two Davids were improving with each new season. They both were beyond basics and well into improving the mental aspect and details of their game by junior seasons.

That's coaching folks. Players commit penalties when they are still struggling to learn the basics. You need look no further than penalties to assess the competence of a coaching staff.

Swampdawg has a point about back to basics. We can all want CWM and CMB gone but if our players are not improving in fundamental skills, is it the coordinators that have failed or is it position coach? I think CMR must evaluated the players we have and determine if they are capable of improving or did they peak during their high school career. As a dawg fan you hope the the 4 star and 5 star recruits and signees are capable of being coached and improving. If they can and are willing to improve, that suggest we need coaches with the skill set to help them improve. Question, do we have a position coaching staff that is able to evaluate and then teach the players the skill to improve? Raw talent is great but it is exposed for what it is by the tier 1 teams. If our players can't execute the coordinators game plan, then keep the scheme simple and execute to the extreme. Poor execution and completion of the drill will kill the best planned scheme. Teach our players to execute the design and finish the drill. Measure their success from that point.

Every major school wanted 95% of our recruits.......it's our coaching, not the kids.

So if the salad tastes horrible then don't blame the chef. Instead hire somebody new to wash the lettuce? That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying the chef stinks but can't be fired. So make him the maitre d' and tell everybody it's a promotion.

Sounds like a FSU strategy.
