I just read where CMR was praising the defense after practice today.

Now I'm wondering has our offense gotten tired from carrying the defense
the last 2 games ?...if so, we're in deep poo poo :woohoo: come Saturday Night.

We could lose the rest of our games, and WM will go no where. CMR will defend WM until CMR is fired.
Dawgs forever

Hey Duck,

I hope you are wrong about what's running through CMR's head regarding his best friend (and I suppose you hope so too) but none of us knows for sure what CMR is thinking so it's really just a matter of \"wait & see\". Yes, I read his press conference quotes but we all know “coach-speak” runs rampart when the microphones are on these days i.e. what he says might NOT be what he thinks. Like DFIT and wlayton said (sandlot style defense aside--that one got a chuckle out of me BTW), right NOW is probably NOT the time to make changes to any part of the coaching staff. Again, Jan. 2010 would make a whole lot more sense to me.

Anyways, as CMR and many members on here have mentioned before, I certainly acknowledge the FACT that turnovers by the offense and poor special teams play have put our defense \"behind the 8-ball\". IMHO, CMR has every right to point this out and any reasonable person should understand that field position due to turnovers and/or poor coverage isn't the fault of CWM or any other defensive player or coach.

Still, when calculating a defenses' scoring avg. (PPG allowed) this FACT is ignored so scoring defense, like most statistics, ends up being slightly SKEWED. Regardless of the TRUE number (which I don't know off the top of my head, betcha dapolla does though), even if you give the defense back 30 of the 102 points that have been allowed through 3 games, they'd still be averaging 24 PPG allowed. Granted, that sounds much better but hopefully not the number our defense aspires to achieve?

Good news is there is plenty of time left for the D to turn it around and hopefully we'll see this scoring avg. come down each and every week beginning Sat. night. That said, a win is a win so if it becomes a 5 hour quadruple overtime 61-60 game against ASU, to quote one of the craziest men in all of sports, “JUST WIN BABY!”

GATA Dawgs!
