Blair Walsh = Clutch

Good post BubMc, this game is another loss for UGA if not for BW's leg. Way to go Blair!

BTW, I stood up from my upper level seat and cheered at the top of my lungs on at least two occasions when BW actually kicked the ball DEEP into the endzone. I could really get used to seeing the opposition start 80 yards away from pay-dirt as opposed to only 60 or 40; I bet our defense appreciated it too.

DawgNLA, Limey, Watson, I totally agree about RS, he ran w/some authority against a tough, and quite large SC defense. CMB, give him the d@#! rock and let him carry us!

Rennie Curran is the BEST; hate to think of where we'd be w/o RC these past few years.
Loved what Boykin brought on special teams and to the secondary. Man, Sanford Stadium was some kind of electric when he took that KO to the house! Branden Smith is definitely our #1 playmaker. This kid has LEGIT track speed and is a threat every time he touches the ball; he's just got to learn to take a knee on the really DEEP kickoffs. I also thought Joe Cox played a very good game save the pick-6. Way to shake off last week and all the naysayers JC!

Finally, as mad as I was that our D coordinator NEVER adjusted to the short underneath routes (especially to the TE) that Garcia was picking us apart with, given the amount of minutes they were on the field, I am very proud of our players for hanging in there all night long and making the crucial stops when they had to. Yes, I repeat, I just congratulated ALL of the PLAYERS wearing Red & Black on the Dawgs defense. Thanks for posting the drive summary w/your morning coffee NC Dawg.

Oh, and How Bout that DeAngelo Tyson?!--SAVED THE GAME BY GETTING HIS BIG PAW ON THE X-POINT!

Good point, Goose, about Cox. The guy played pretty good on Saturday considering he still has to be feeling weak from the flu. I hope he goes on to have a great year. As an ex-QB, albeit four decades ago, I see one habit JC has to get rid of, and I hope it gets corrected this week. He locks on his hot receiver and doesn't look away the safety. If he'd just glance the other way during his drop back, he'd move the safety away from his receiver down field. In the case of the pick-6 he threw Sat, once again, a little look the other way will draw underneath coverage in toward the box and away from the receiver in the flat. He's shown a better arm than I thought he had and with a little more experience, I believe he'll be a fine QB.B)

watson, David Greene did the same thing. Greene had four years of starting to get rid of that habit, though...let's hope JC gets it gone before LSU, or we're in trouble.

Kudos to all the players mentioned in this thread, especially Blair Walsh. After what happened with him last year (especially against Florida) I thought that we'd be using Bogotay at some points. I was wrong, and I'm glad I was. When your first two field goals of the year total 103 yards, you've got some kind of leg, boy! I guess it's not so smart to expect your true freshman placekicker to do the same things Brandon Coutu did as a junior. Now that he's got a year under his belt, Walsh is already in the Georgia record books. GO DAWGS!

BubMcUGA, thanks for pointing to Blair's excellent game. I am the one person on this board that pounded his chest and demanded Blair become a Dawg. Will repeat again, in high school in Broward County (Lauderdale) he was booming kicks into and out of the end zone.

Last year felt really bad about all the hoopla that I spread on this board concerning Blair's great ability. Did not understand the underlying factor.

We all think we know so much sometimes, when in reality, we don't. Mr. Robinson ran a series of articles prior to spring camp about Blair and the cause of his problems. Involved tees and a lot more pertinent facts about the Freshman.

Here I go. Just another case of someone on the outside, Robinson, understanding what needed to be done versus a member of the coaching staff that in my opinion was the cause, not the solution. Rex called it and he was 100% right.

Question . . . why in the second half did we get away from the correct formula in the first half?

Great posts guys......watson, loved the comment about the \"fruit needing to ripen\" a little more. Believe ya'll are correct as well.

Buc, you were right about BW and his has his confidence going now which is 90% of kicking. BTW, I thought BW got permission from his HS coach to kick the ball off the ground his senior year to prepare for UGA?

Back to Branden Smith...I agree he is something special, but they have GOT to take him off the return teams. he is to young, just like samual last year. how many times has he tried to take it from at least 5 yrds deep in the endzone? this is not highschool anymore. every time he takes one out of the endzone we start the drive from our 10. that is not going to help us at all this season. which brings me to my next point. why oh why would you put smith in after boykin just set a record breaking return? i dont get it. the boy just proved he has what it takes to take it to the house and then you give the ball to someone else. WTF?

To me...Boykin was player of the game! Walsh was excellent also, but i gotta go with the new UGA record!

Goooooo Dawgs...Sic'em...Woof Woof Woof!!!
