wlayton, I thought Scott was going to get fired. His greatest weakness is what a big fan of Georgia he is. He really, truly lost his temper during that game, and I'm sure he was reprimanded for it. But when you think about it, any fan would be that upset. Our first long drive of the ballgame, it's not a blowout just yet (remember, the half ended 14-3 Florida), and your highly-touted placekicker pings one off of the goalpost? You should have heard what I said. It wasn't \"Goshdarnit.\"

im not trying to argue or stand up for someone who cant keep the ball in the field of play on a kickoff, but this kick you are focusing on was 54 yrds if i remember correctly. how can you talk trash about that. that was his longest kicks and it just so happened to be against our biggest (in my opinion) rival.

just something to think about. i do agree though, he let me down last year also. just keep it in bounds. and when he missed that kick i was also saying things that would make Hitler cringe.

Goooooo Dawgs...Sic'em...Woof Woof Woof!!!

This kid had 20 touchbacks in 52 kickoffs last year..... CMR remedies another glaring problem from last year! Great job!

•Ole Miss (Sparks): 10 touchbacks on 72 kickoffs…14%
•Florida (Sturgis): 12 touchbacks on 90 kickoffs…13%
•Auburn (Byrum/Hull): 4 touchbacks on 48 kickoffs…8%
•Georgia Tech (Blair): 5 touchbacks on 62 kickoffs…8%
•Clemson (Buchholz): 5 touchbacks on 64 kickoffs…8%
•Tennessee (Cunningham): 3 touchbacks on 40 kickoffs…7.5%
•LSU (Jasper): 4 touchbacks on 76 kickoffs…5%
•Georgia (Walsh): 4 touchbacks on 75 kickoffs…5%
•Alabama (Tiffin): 2 touchbacks on 75 kickoffs…3%

Sometimes we think of kickers being offensive because of the field goal threat, and that is true. In reality, kickers and punters lean much more to the defensive side of the equation. BW did not help the defensive ground troops a lot as shown in the table by watson . . . . 5%. Faulty kicking also plays a major part in kick coverage, at the moment the toe meets leather, the kicker is the most important person on the field. In BW's case, DIRECTION. Again glad to see CMR addressing issues, and this was and is a huge issue.
