Carlton Thomas

When UGA signed this young man to a scholarship, I could not have been happier. Living in Central Florida, know a lot about the players coming out of this area. Know that some of you remember me standing on the stump about Thomas. Reading the AJC this morning, did not get the information that I found in the Macon Telegraph, thought I would pass this along. Thomas is for real, great talent, strong work ethic. Said last football season that I thought he might be returning punts and kickoffs. Looks like CMR has some of the same thoughts for the upcoming season. Now we have Branden Smith aboard, this could be an outstanding duo to have returning kickoffs. Who are you going to kick the ball away from? Folks, I am liking the makeup of this team more each day. Second cup of coffee, makes me long winded, sorry. GO DAWGS!

I'm with you, Buc. I might be drinking that red and black koolaid again, but I can't remember us having playmakers in so many positions. I really like the makeup of this team. I like the offseason work ethic, I like the sense of teamwork, I like the addition of talent coming off redshirt year, I like our recruits, and most of all I like the proverbial chip on their shoulders and their focus.

Provided, we don't get hit with the injury bug again, we look real good in a lot of areas offensively.
1. I think we will be fine at QB with Cox. He does not know how to lose and has great leadership skills in the huddle. A quote from the huddle in Colorado game in 2006 to the effect, \"If we don't score two touchdowns and win this game, we don't deserve to wear the G on our helmets\". Chills, baby! The rest is history.
2. We will be effective at RB. Someone might step up and really star at that position, but KM was KM. They don't come along often. We will have a good rotation, though. Our strength at WR should open the running game up some.
3.WR is the position I am excited the most about. We have size, speed , and good hands at WR. We can go three wide in some instances and all three will be taller than 6-4! Talking about mismatches! Throw in OC or AW, both being that hybrid type TE...... $#it!!!!
4. OL will be, arguably, the most experienced two deep I have seen at UGA. IF they can stay healthy. Also being coached by the best coach on the staff (nothing against anyone else). He's that good!
Let 2009 begin. I can't wait! I would go over to the defense but I have run my mouth enough. What are your thoughts defensively.. and offensively for that matter?

watson one point I would make concerning Cox. Not everyone that plays the QB position has to have that \"rocket arm\" that so many talk about. Check out most pass plays that end up in the end zone, or for big gains, and it is evident that the ball was thrown 10 - 20 yards in most instances. This does not mean that Cox has a limp noodle for an arm, that is not the case at all. Not everyone can throw a football with the velocity or distance that MS could.

The exciting part of this offense to me is the pass catching ability and YARDS AFTER CATCH. This season we have no shortage of young men that can catch and run. The list is much too long to post here, but one player that I really like and is not mentioned much is Moore. Came on real strong last year, and that leadership and game time experience will mean much to the incoming freshmen.

I agree with ya, Buc. The differences between Cox and MS will require a shift in offensive game plans. With Stafford's arm strength, CMBobo was tempted often with the Homerun, and it worked, sometimes. It might be me, but often that temptation led to many three and outs. First down deep pass incomplete, four yard run, one incomplete pass punt. I'm not saying we weren't effective on offense last year because we were very successful and the stats show it, but this year I see a more controlled game plan. A lot of slants, a lot more of the TE in our offense, a lot more of the beloved FB release over the middle,a lot more screens and hitches in behind WR's to our backs. We will be able to spread out defenses a lot more this year. Defenses will need help will AJG and MB (I do think MB will play and star for us early) which will spread Safeties and Outside LB. That will lead to man coverage on TE and backs. I really believe the middle will be the difference this year, but when you line up all that talent outside, plays will be made out there also. D@mn, bring on OK State!!!!!!! GATA, DAWGS!!!! :woohoo:

Gentlemen......a few short statements

1. This year's offense will out score last years....easily
2. MS will be a better pro than a college QB....he's made for the pro's
3. Last year we ran the ball to set up the pass, this year we will pass the
ball to set up the run.
4. We will be much more consistent because of better leadership (Cox)
5. The D will be better but still better find some DE's
6. Finally a great kick return game
7. Will be less penalized
8. They are mad about last year and are VERY hungry
9. This year's team would beat last year's and easily

AND......bold for me......

We WILL win the SEC and be in contention for the NC.....BANK IT!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: (4 of 'em)
