Diamond Dawgs Take the Field

Well, today I'm headed down to Athens to visit family and take my uncle and his brood to the closer of the Youngstown State series on Sunday afternoon. This should prove to be an interesting season. Let's see if we have a typical Perno off-year (One year you go to the CWS, the next you have a losing season) or if they take all of that pain and misery from losing to Fresno State last year and put it into a season that none of us will ever forget. My guy, Rich Poythress, is on the Golden Spikes Award watch list, and we've got stalwarts like Bryce Massanari and Trevor Holder back. Could be a VERY good year. GO DAWGS!!!

By the way, those of you who pay close attention to the Georgia baseball team as I do, let's do each other a favor and post more often this year. I'd love to talk Diamond Dawg ball even a quarter as much as we talk football. Just muh two cents. GO DAWGS!

Hey dapolla. I do like the dawgs baseball team. I have a friend Dean Weaver that plays on the team. You may know him. They lost several solid starters obviously, but I look to see them rebound from the fresno series this season and have a great year. I will talk baseball anytime you want.

Hope the high preseason ranking doesn't hurt them. Go Diamond Dawgs!!!!!

Gator, Dean Weaver is a tremendous talent. He can get a little shaky at times but if he gets his head into it I think he'll be closing by tournament time.

I'm very very excited about the baseball team this year. I've seen them live and in color, and their ability to run on you is much better than in years past, which adds so much to your game. This kid Johnathan Taylor is AMAZING. I'll be glued to my computer for the next two evenings against Presbyterian.

I am really excited to see how the dawgs play the rest of the season. Our pitchers looked great this weekend putting up some solid outings. The bats couldnt have been hotter. After this weekend, I believe we will have a good idea where our boys stand.

To speak to your point, prozack07, Cecil Tanner looked mega-shaky last night in the first inning, giving up a run and leaving two runners on second and third. But for a freshman, boy did he regain his composure quickly, getting his first win in his first collegiate start and looking dynamite on the mound from the middle of the first on.

Tonight we get an old, friendly face in Jason Leaver. GO DAWGS!
