dapolla, i did mention all the things you stated above and i am right there with you on they should have let him finish the season. Like i said before he didn't have much to work with when he came to UGA and he is leaving it in the same shape it was when he got here. Not one person can say anything bad about the guys character he just hasn't built anything in Athens. As far as the SEC championship goes, it was the greatest 3 days in UGA basketball history and Felton will be remembered for that hopefully. Wish him the best and he is more than welcome to come to UTC and coach, i think Shulman up here is on the hot seat. Anyway, here is hoping to a great hire and turning the UGA basketball team around!

Sorry, golferdawg, that wasn't directed at you. It's just frustrating that we would behave like any other school in the country and have such a short memory. We've always prided ourselves in not acting like quick-reaction buffoons. If we had fired Coach Felton in January last year, would we have gone on that miracle run?

Look, to my mind, having one miracle run is sometimes better than the expectations that come along with having a consistently great program. Look at this year in Georgia football, for example. We went 10-3 and finished in the top 10, but everyone's acting like we went 5-7 and lost to Vandy. Expectations were so high that 10 wins wasn't enough. Does UTEP (formerly Texas Western) fire its coach every time it doesn't beat UK in the National Championship game? No. They had a miracle run and it sustains them. I wasn't old enough to enjoy the Final Four run in 1983, but I was glued to my TV during the SEC Championship tourney last year. Felton should have been allowed to finish the year. Unless he was pulling some Harrick-like shenanigans that we don't know about, it's the least they could have done for him. My stomach is still turning.

I thought the guy was climbing into the fire when he came in also, guys. He did a good job cleaning up the program. One aspect he didn't do well is win. He had six years to do it. We have never been a consistent world beater in basketball, but we have to instill a tradition at UGA to get high schoolers from the state of Georgia to come to Georgia. There are many great high school players from Georgia that go elsewhere to play every year. The cupboard is full every year in Georgia. We need to be able to get the biggest cut year in and year out out of that cupboard. We do in football! For those who say Georgia basketball ain't Georgia football, I say, why can't it be! The miracle run last year showed me and a lot of other people that we had the talent to to great things last year but didn't. Maybe the timing wasn't the greatest, but it was overdue. Just my opinion.
