Dennis Felton Fired

I think they will definitely give Tubby a call to talk, and I don’t think that it’s out of the question that he would return. However, I think the next UGA coach will most likely be Anthony Grant from VCU. He was apparently in line for the job at UF last year until Donovan changed his mind. He was Donovan’s #1 assistant at Marshall and then UF for many, many years, and he’s done a good job at VCU.

I wouldn't say Evans has a pair just yet. Let's see what happens after the football season. If he crosses CMR then i will say he has a pair! He could've waited to fire Felton though. I mean really besides the best three days in UGA basketball history what has he done? kicked off a bunch of good players for being thugs? (i respect that) but besides those three days and his attitude towards decipline what really did he bring to UGA? He didn't have much to work with when he got here and he is leaving the program in about the same shape as it was when he came to Athens. A no brainer to fire him.

I agree. Felton was a good and repesctable man who just didnt do a very good job. the lack of offensive strategy throughout his tenure was painful. he and the dawgs both need a fresh start

Has anybody mentioned that he took over for a criminal and his son and that he had to kick all of his best players save Sundiata Gaines off of the team for hideous academic and, in some cases, even more heinous violations? Georgia was never a powerhouse basketball program to begin with, and after a total dismantle like what Coach Felton had to go through...I understand that five years is long enough and he should have built something by now like, oh, I don't know, an SEC championship team that makes the NCAA tournament...oh. Wait. He did that?

I don't like firing Coach Felton for doing everything the right way. It's not like we've ever been a consistently good basketball team except when we've had Dominique Wilkins or Tubby Smith. Last year was a miracle run, though, and at the very least Coach Felton should have been allowed to finish out the year. He has a part of my heart for coaching the Dream Dawgs , though. That much is for certain.
