UGA gives these student athletes a free ride for playing a sport for 4 or 5 years depending on a redshirt year or not. That's a contract between the athletic department and the athlete. If that person decides to leave early for the NFL why is he not required to pay the school back for the portion for the contract he reneged on. I am not complaining about his opportunity to go to the NFL, I just feel he owes the school some compensation for not for filling his obligation to the school. I really feel this should be part of the package at signing day. If they are that good and go 1st or 2nd round in the draft the money should be no problem. It might make a few of the more run of the mill athletes from jumping ship when really they are not ready. Look at Ward and Brown from the 06 or 07 draft. If a coach leaves or breaks his contract or the school fires him there is a buy out programed into the contract. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. If the player gets injured the school continues his scholarship even when he is unable to play. I, for one, am sick and tired of these people coming to UGA and leaving early without some payback. Just my thoughts about this early leaving scenario.
As always GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
