I thought about that too, wlayton, and unfortunately, unless Martinez mans up and resigns a la Jeff Bowden (which isn't likely), we'll probably be crossing that bridge next year.
I'll tell ya sadlerdawg, I've been doing a lot of thinking and have something to share but can't pull the trigger just yet. There's a local sports talk show host that is VERY knowledgable on the NFL and good with the college scene, he LOVES MS and thinks he's THE best QB in the draft. The last 2 years I've been listening to him about the Dawgs etc (won't elaborate) and I use to get sooo mad at what he kept saying, over and over each month over the last 2 years. But after listening to him today.....I'm starting to think he may be right, I just can't make myself regurgitate it up just yet. It would be too painful. Maybe soon.
If WM had any dreams of being a great DC.. everyone of the players with missed tackles - shoulders bein thrown w/out wrapping up ala RJ should still be running sprints.
I'm getting into this thread really, really late... since I was at the game Saturday...
I argued before that we needed to bear in mind all the injuries that we've had over the course of the year on the D. I think that's still true. However, it appears that DCWM has some issues with teams that run the option (e.g. WVU). So... if he isn't fired/resigned then he at least needs to attend a clinic or three on how to defend the option. Because once Johnson gets the personnel he wants on offense they are going to be really, really good and it is going to get worse.
P.S. Oklahoma State runs the zone-read option pretty doggone well with Zac Robinson at QB, much better than with Bobby Reid at QB.
