Do yall think our defense is just plain tired from the grueling schedule they have faced as well as the various injuries at multiple positions throughout the year?

I dunno, just a question for the forum. I went down to Jax. w/high expectations and left disappointed like the rest of you here, but still, in the 1st half against the Gators, I thought our defense played their best ball of the entire season making many a stop against the speedy Gators offense. On the other hand, last week against UK, this same defense looked a step slow and allowed the Cats to get to the corner more often than any UGA D I can recall during the Richt era. So, just throwing it out here as a honest question, not really looking for any excuses for either Willie or the fellas playing on his defensive unit.

dapolla, the Georgia-Auburn rivalry is w/o a doubt my personal favorite also. My old man attended Auburn and my Sister loves the Tigers so this one is always personal in the GooseDawg household. Anyways, I'm super pumped and will actually be working in Cleveland until 2:30PM this Sat. so I will be checking in on this forum for game updates. OMG, I cannot even remember the last UGA game I missed. Yall pull em' through for me!!!

Yeah, this is the biggest game of the year in my house also. My wife is a huge Albarn fan. Lord, PLEASE forgive her for she doesn't know what real football is and also help her see that UGA is a far more SUPERIOR team. AMEN!B)

Ya know wlayton, your response seems logical and is definitely to the point. After posting my question, I then read the Athens-online and AJC articles linked on the Dawgs.com homepage concerning the defense. None of our players mentioned being worn out but I do think they made an astute observation concerning the lack of \"passion\" or lack of \"fun\" they seem to be having out there on the football field. You could just tell that they were having fun out there last year, this year, not so much. Interesting too was the fact that Kelin Johnson was the proclaimed vocal leader of the defense last year and nobody has filled that void this year. Perhaps Curran will step up and fill that void following the players only meeting?

Anyways, I just hope to see a recharged, fired-up, yet disciplined bunch of Dawgs defenders flying to the ball when they take the field down on the Plains this Saturday. I dunno, maybe I'm reaching for a answer to uplift my outlook on this season right now, regardless, I still say it's no easy task to stay fully energized and healthy when you play 4 road games against LSU, Florida, UK, and Auburn in consecutive weeks. Also, perhaps the fact that the Cats won the Time of Possession battle by nearly 10 minutes had something to do w/our defense sucking wind throughout the 4th quarter. IMO, while T.o.P. is not an \"end all\" statistic the importance of keeping the opposing offense on the sidelines and keeping your own defense rested is often overlooked and understated. Thanks for the reply though wlayton. It's good to know I'm not the only person fretting over UGA football at 11PM on a Wed. night-LOL!

Yeah, not much \"fun\" to be drug up and down the field all day.

Don't know if Curran can be a vocal leader....he's so quiet.

Yep, I'm with ya Goose....the Dawgs keep me up at night too.
