YES....now that was a GUT WRENCHING loss. Took me 30 minutes to get out of my seat and go back to the hotel.

The other option Rebel, is the blitz package Erk used on Marino in 82 and he burned us for a TD to win the Sugar Bowl for Pitt. Basically coaches utilize what they think works best for the personnel we have, its alway open to 20/20 hindsight. If it works he's smart and if it doesn't its a disaster. Would not have a coaches job for all the tea in China, talk about being under a microscope.

oledawg, you are SOOOOOO right. I was listening to a short discussion by CMR on some x's and o's that they run on defense (and offense) and what they do in certain situations, alignments, adjustments, thought processes, personel (strength and weaknesses etc), on and on etc, etc, etc.......and I IMMEDIATELY thought about ALL of us on this forum.....and here is my conclusion about ALL OF US after listening to CMR



We all think we know a little bit about football, the x's and o's, what we should and shouldn't do....we have ALL the answers etc......


We all know NOTHING about what we are criticising, we know NOTHING about schemes and the x's and o's, we know NOTHING about what should work or shouldn't work in situations etc etc.......Compared to our coaches and the sophisticated schemes etc they run....WE ARE BASICALLY VERY IGNORANT AND SHOULD KEEP OUR MOUTHS SHUT. Geez, half the things CMR was talking about completely loses you unless you have time to think about it....very complicated and calculated. Ok, maybe it doesn't always work but the players have a little to do with the execution as well.

Believe me, these guys know what they are doing and have FORGOTTEN more football than we all have EVER learned.
