Total Lack of Discipline

Sorry your 1st post was negative too. We just got whipped and that CAN happen in the SEC. Zero penalties would certainly have helped the cause but Bama was BY FAR the better team Sat. Come down on the coaches all you want....have you forgotten that they had won ELEVEN in a row? Stuff happens, just pick yourself up and get going again...this IS the SEC, nothing is going to come easy and if you thought we were going to go undefeated and win every game BIG then you are dilusional.
I don't care if they had won 50 in a row. There were 2 GA teams on the field Saturday night, the one that had 22 individuals running around disorganized & undisciplined, and the one that came out the second half and played TEAM ball. If you do not expect to win every game, then you damn sure should not play, and you sure as hell should not bitch about a loss. I see no reason the Dawgs could not have run the table, in spite of their schedule. They do have the athletes and good coaches. They simply lack discipline and teamwork. They seem to be full of themselves. I hope they have shaken that off. AL did not play nearly as tough the second half as they did the first half. When I saw some of the first hits put on the dawgs, I thoguht w were not even going to have a team left by half time. GA was simply not ready to PLAY, and thta is the coaches fault more than anyone else. That is what Richt gets paid the big bucks for, not gimmick double reverse plays & black jerseys. He needs to ask Nick Saban how to motivate the Dawgs, because the dawgs have not had their heads in a game this year. The SC game they should have lost, and the other games were against nobody's. Maybe benching a few of the Star players will get their attention, especially Noshow.

Then there are \"smart\" penalties such as pass interference in the endzone when the DB knows the receiver has him beat for a touchdown.
Other than that, there is a fine line for a coach psychologically when dealing with offsides, personal fouls, etc.
I don't think Knowshon's mohawk is a look at me attitude. I think it's a result of the team developing a confidence or \"swagger\" as they call it.
A coach wants an aggressive, physical team with swagger, but too much causes these penalties. Coaches have to be careful when repairing highly penalized teams without affecting the teams \"proper\" amount of aggression. It's not an easy thing to do, but that's what separates the great head coaches from the average head coaches.
Obviously, the Dawgs have too many penalties and it affects the final score. But, I will go out on a limb and say, treat penalties like money. If you are disciplined, you can afford to hit a quaterback late (not hurt him, just knock him down) if you believe that the QB can be easily rattled by pressure. Again, as long as you weigh the risk/reward of getting the flag.
Football is war, and getting in someone's head is just as effective as smacking them in the mouth.
I'm not saying I'm right, but just my $0.02 for what it's worth.

Honcho, at first thought, the pass interference penalty was smart. On a second look, if the CB was tought to to look for the ball, instead of falling for Eye Fakes, he could simply have caught the ball himself. So instead of AL TD, we could have got the ball on the 20 and broke the momentum of AL before they start Rollin. I did not see a single smart penalty in the game. Even if you say the Pass Interference was smart, what was the outcome of the drive, 6 points, right?

There is no benefit of dwelling on this loss, other than getting back to the basics.
There's a thin line between confidence and conceit. We were taken to the woodshed and beaten soundly. The score doesn't reflect the reality of the game.
If we don't get tougher up front, we will lose again. All the playmakers in the world do not a team make.
Alabama played as a team. We didn't. It's as simple as that.
I trust this game is a wakeup call to the players and coaches.
The Tennessee game is not a gimme. Lardo loses this game, he loses his job. Say what you want about him, he's resiliently a survivor.
Our season begins a week from Saturday.
