I am trying to see the siler linin but we have problems. Our defense is soft against anybody with a pulse on offense. 31pts in the first half is unacceptable. Also this game is much worse than the score indicates. It wouldn't be so bad if we lost close but we got handled. Hopefully we can run the table the rest of the season and get a rematch but losing like this just doesn't make me feel very optimistic.
Our D made JPW look like Joe Montana. We are undisciplined the penalties were horrendous. The hold by Jones when they only brought 3 guys is just the tip of the iceberg. I don't know maybe I am just being hard on the team and am a little disappointed. I am just disgusted right now.
While you're making great points, the game is much closer in the first half if we don't self destruct. I mean the old woulda, coulda, shoulda is an old story but we neglect a fumble on their first drive, give them 52 free yards (via penalties) on their first two drives I think, lose a fumble in what would have been a first down and on top of that our punter has an average of 24 yards on his first two kicks. 24 freaking yards?! Not to take anything away from Bama but we did everything to lose the game in the first half and against a good opponent, very good opponent I might say, this will kill you.
Now as for the silver lining, things like penalties, terrible kicks and fumbles are all correctable. Things like a terrible defensive gameplan can also be corrected, even though we play this passive all year. What is a reason for concern is that we got handled in the trenches and there is where football games are decided...
