Guess we were the lucky ones in Florida. Sunshine Network carried the game, really surprised me. Thought I was going to have to drive to my daughters home in Lauderdale to watch.
wlayton, I too feel the same concerns that you do about this pass rush. Of course we lost one of the best, if not the best pass rusher we had for this year. Looks like we are playing more cover two than usual, and that of course should be expected with the team and QB that we faced yesterday. In the second half they found a bit of a rhythm and really made us appear somewhat lost.
I was checking Auburn out on another channel during most of the TV breaks and I could really see the difference in Auburn and Central Michigan's play. The difference on the defensive side of the ball was staggering. However, what is one to expect from SEC football, that is what we have all signed up for.
One of the things that I have to keep reminding myself of is this . . . UGA is a very, VERY young football squad. The improvements by this team we will all get to watch as the year progresses. There is no gloom and doom here, just concern for what I actually see. Not all of us see things the same way. Also exciting to me is not only the growth of this young squad, but the future is looking real bright with the 2009 incoming class. UGA should be strong for many years to come, maybe forever.
THE Ohio State . . . . .
Never will they make it to the championship game this year, not with the way they played on TV yesterday. The hype that surrounds this team is exactly that, HYPE. A good football team, yes. A national championship team, no. I find it disgusting that ESPN and their supporting cast can put so much emphasis on one player. In Walker's heyday, he did not come close to the attention that \"Beanie\" is getting. Anyone who thinks that ONE PLAYER is what the TEAM is all about, well, they are nuts in my opinion. Overall, Ohio State is slow, and I for one would love to see UGA's group of running backs break the line of scrimmage and go one on one with the their linebackers. Total mismatch. Personally, I don't care where the media rates folks, that will all settle itself out down the line.
Do want to repeat this . . . this is a young group of players that we have, it is going to be very special for me to watch them grow, not just this year, but for the years ahead. A lot of very talented players will come together and make all of us very proud of our school. Go Dawgs!
