I was just watching ESPNU's SEC College Football Preview. Let me ask you: is there ANYONE more annoying to listen to or watch than Mike Godfrey? The guy speaks at a rate of about four words per minute, never has anything meaningful to say and in fact is wrong about almost everything. They paired him up with Mike Minter, which was especially painful to me as a Panther fan to see him have absolutely NO IDEA what he was talking about. What's wrong with this network? Don't they understand that they ought to get people who know and respect the SEC for an SEC football preview? At the beginning of the show, Mike Minter admits that he's a \"Big 8/Big 12 guy,\" and says that \"This SEC conference...might be pretty good.\" Mike Godfrey, on the other hand, says that the Big XII is the best conference in college football, with FIVE (?) contenders for the national championship, whereas the SEC has only two. REALLY? Who are the five contenders, Coach? I'll list off the teams in the Big XII:
Texas
Oklahoma
Baylor
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Texas A&M
Kansas
Missouri
Nebraska
Colorado
Iowa State
Kansas State
Who are the contenders, the TRUE contenders, out of that group? Oklahoma and Missouri. That's it. A really optimistic Big XII homer might say Texas and Kansas could be added to the mix. That doesn't make them legitimate contenders.
I'm assuming Godfrey thinks that the two contenders in the SEC are Florida and Georgia. So the defending national champions aren't contenders? I'm assuming that Auburn isn't a contender either, even though you picked them to win the West and face Florida, meaning (per Urban's record) that Auburn would win the SEC?
Why are these guys talking about the SEC? They know NOTHING! And, like I said, Mike Godfrey talks like a drunken stoned stroke victim with half his mouth sewn shut. I'm done watching preseason college football stuff until the week of. It's all hype and speculation and just serves to make me angry.
SUCCESS!!!
