Poll: Link Policy Changes

Poll: Link Policy Changes was created by stevedawg
The Internet is always changing and I try to adapt to it. By that I mean I want to review the link policy and see what you all think is appropriate.

Right now, as you probably know, it is a case by case basis with regular posters getting less restrictions that new members.

That means I have to cruise th messages daily looking for violators and then they get out on the rss feeds before I can stop it.

It would be easier to admin if I had a list of cleared link sites.

Any ideas?
steve

Steve, trying to get a feeling for just exactly what you are asking here. For example, in an earlier thread dapolla posted in the thread with this comment.

Re:An Opinion on Two SEC Teams 7 Hours, 52 Minutes ago
I'm glad you posted that, Buc, even if Bleacher Report IS on the banned list, and I'll tell you why:

I read his post and it made me think I had broken the rules of the board. Not intentionally, just did not know. If you have sites and restrictions for posting here, maybe it is my fault, but I have not read the rules and site restrictions. If you could guide me to them, would surely peruse them right away.

If I am missing the point would appreciate you leading me in the right, direction. Thanks, Buc.

I think you have discovered the problem and my suggested solution is to have an approved list. Something we can add to as we go along and everybody will be able to see it or submit links to it. Easy as that.

The only reason we need it is I have had to spend days cleaning up the forum when link baiting got out of hand over a year ago.

I am open to anything in this discussion. (Family oriented of course.) I don't want to leave a stone unturned.

Let's get some discussion going and some sites submitted.

Steve, with dapolla knowing that a particular site was \"off limits\" did he just assume that or is there a section here that refers us to any particular site or sites that are now existing. Would very much like to be involved with most of the posters on this board aiding you any way that I (we) can. Advise. Buc

GaBoi,
BTW, I've been meaning to ask you (are you the same GaBoi that I have chatted with on the Fox NCAAF site?). If so, I am real glad that you made it over to the best UGA forum in the land...it's nice to get a break from all of those delusional Buckeye fans ain't it?

Anyways, I believe that \"link baiting\" refers to someone, usually a guest or new user posting links to other web-sites for selfish, non-informational reasons (propaganda, advertising a product or service, just reaching for new visitors, etc.).
For example, before the week of the Auburn game last year, some nimwit Allbarn fan came onto the forum & talked some smack about the Dawgs & then literally invited all of us to come over to HIS web-site (link included) and tell him what we thought of both UGA and the War Eagles. He was banned rather quickly.

My two cents, I would hope that Rivals & Scout make the approved list because these are far & away the best sources for UGA football recruiting information. I also (believe it or not) find interesting articles on Nt'l sports sites such as ESPN, Fox, SI, etc..

How bout' local media outlets such as local newspapers' web-sites from places ranging from Chattanooga to Jacksonville, Columbia to Birmingham? Are these approved like the AJC site Steve?

BTW--I really LOVE the new look to the Dawgs.com fourm...Red, Black, & Silver: the ONLY 3 colors that matter!
