I have been thinking about adding all sports since I started the site. In the past it has been tried and not been worth the effort.
I agree now is the time. I will get right on it.
What sports should we start with? Maybe we should just do them all and see what happens?
I would appreciate somebody getting me the list of sports to add. It would save me some time.
Steve -
I think that the non-football sports that get talked about the most here are baseball and men's and women's basketball. I personally may start talking gymnastics more next season just because both my kids are really starting to get into it and I like showing them the meets on my computer. It might be worth it to have four forums: Football, baseball, basketball (men's and women's) and \"other sports.\"
In terms of the countdown clock, of course it isn't feasible to count down to each and every baseball or basketball game the way we do for football. Let's face it, football games are always going to be more exciting to anticipate, whether it's against Georgia Tech or Georgia Southern. But conference, regional and national championship meets/games/matches are, I think, important. When the Diamond Dawgs or Lady Bulldogs are gearing up for SEC Tournament play, or when the Gym Dawgs are gearing up for a regional meet, for example, I think it'd be worth it to put that up on the countdown clock for all sports. Just because our Equestrian team doesn't get talked about a lot on this board or in the national media doesn't mean that we don't feel pride in our three VENCs or want to send good thoughts to our girls when they're gearing up for the Southern Equestrian show or the VENC itself. Same goes for men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, and women's swimming and diving, all of which are in the mix for the conference and national titles each and every year. Again, the swim meet against Auburn might not merit a countdown clock, but the SEC Championship and National Championship meets probably do. Anyway, give it a thought. Thanks fer listening to my two-and-a-half cents.
