Makes Me Sick . . .

Makes Me Sick . . . was created by Buc
After reading the article on Clint Boling and the problem that he now has, makes me sick to my stomach. Here we have a young fellow that has excelled on the football field and basketball court. With a high academic achievement that fits into his resume . . . how can someone like this be so foolhardy. I understand that he has not been convicted, but how would each of us like to be in his position right now. Must say this . . . if his driving was that erratic, DUI or not, he should have been stopped and taken away from the wheel. Too many lives are lost each year with this sort of behavior, or lack of. All SEC freshman team. Major: Pre/Business, Accounting. Coach Richt in Kuwait, honoring those that should be honored and respected. Guess when the cat is away, the mice will play. Come on Clint, you have a brain, no excuses for this type of behavior. Personally, hope that CMR hands down severe punishment if this turns out to be as presented. Go Dawgs, THINK.

The article in the AJC spewed out the headline, \"Boling Arrested for DUI\", but upon further reading it becomes evident that he was pulled over for driving erratically and then arrested because he refused to take a sobriety test. There are no published results of a blood test, no published results of a breathalyzer, and no underage consumption charge is recorded either, which always follows a DUI arrest if the perpetrator is underaged. I suspect Boling was arrested for the ambiguous P.O.P. charge......Pissing Off Police.......because he challenged the cops authority by insisting he wasn't drinking and by complicating matters when he refused to do the breathalyzer. Cops always accuse a driver of drinking when they pull them over at night like this, and the first question usually out of a cop's mouth at this kind of stop is, \"Sir, how much have you had to drink tonight\"?......This happens 9 times out of 10, and NOTHING pisses off the cops more than a driver challenging their authority. This also happened a week ago, so why not plaster it all over the paper the day after it happened like when Joe Hamilton got busted if it was such a hot piece of news? This is why.....there was no evidence to support a DUI charge. The AJC should have said \"Suspicion of DUI\" because thats all the cops have without a breathalyzer and blood test result. We will see how it pans out. Boling has hired a lawyer, so he obviously intends to fight the charge. Carter Strickland also wrote this, and you all know he has nothing good to say about UGA, anyway.

UD37, I live in NC, so I don't know for sure how it is in GA, but in NC, you don't need a breathalyzer or a blood test to charge or convict somebody of DWI. In fact, if someone refuses either test here they automatically lose their license for 30 days, on the spot, no questions asked. To be honest, I can't think of any reason why somebody who hadn't been drinking wouldn't take a breathalyzer. What better way to prove to the cop you haven't been drinking? He may have been charged with something, but it wouldn't have been DWI or any alcohol charge if he proved he wasn't drinking.

I certainly hope that after all of this has ran its course, Clint Boling is found to be innocent. If that is the case, then the arresting officer in this case should face disciplinary action. When you are carted off to jail, something is not quite right on one side or the other. I do know that in the state of Florida if you refuse to take the breathilizer test, you face automatic license suspension. It was six months at one point, think that it is now one year for refusal. What that accomplishes is keeping a DUI conviction off of your record. I have no idea what the ramifications are in Georgia. I would think that Clint would be too smart to do something like this, drinking and driving. Personally, I stay away from Carter Strickland if at all possible. My information came off of this board to the right. Athens Banner Herald. With the confidence that I have in Coach Richt, know that he will come up with the truth and act accordingly.

I'm with ya, buc, I'm hoping like Hell he's innocent, and is proven innocent. Obviously, I wasn't there, so I don't know, but I just find it hard to believe if he wasn't drinking that he wouldn't take a test to prove it. The police even have roadside breath analysis equipment so he could have proven it without even going \"downtown\". I hope it all works out for him, not just because he's a football player, but because he seems like a fine young man who doesn't need any charges against him.

sadlerdawg, UD37, many years ago this kind of thing was not picked up so easily by the press. This world has changed and all of us with it. Any little thing, or large, when it pertains to athletes is instant fodder for \"some\" of the folks that make a living on \"issues\". One thing that I will say . . . . you cause an accident, hurt some folks there is no amount of money that will clear a good persons conscience. Cannot believe as you said sadlerdawg that he would not willingly take the test. At that point the \"POP\" would not be taking Clint to jail. I will bet that there will be film on this incident, both from the police car and at the station. Why? Because Clint Boling is now somewhat a \"celebrated\" person. He is the starting guard on the UGA football team. Hurry home Coach Richt.
