Kentdaddy, great post.
Also, don't forget that the SEC sends the most players to the NFL year after year.
Here is the breakdown of representation on NFL rosters.

SCHOOLS

1. Florida State 42
2. FLORIDA 37
TENNESSEE 37
4. GEORGIA 35
Ohio State 35
6. Michigan 34
7. Miami (Fla.) 33
8. AUBURN 31
9. LSU 30
Notre Dame 30

See a pattern?

GatorinGA, welcome aboard! IFO appreciate not only the previously posted words of wisdom and encouragement, but the SEC related dialogue. I must confess, I've not had much opportunity to say very nice things about supporters of UF; having experienced the brutality of Jax during the SOS years, but even this old dawg can learn a new trick or two!

May the best team win tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

NC Dawg, I remember you well for the way you used to dawg out stiggywiggy, buzzin, and heine boy on a daily basis, but no, I'm not from Dalton. I live in Thomasville, GA.....right on the Ga-Fla border....Home of former Dawgs Mike Bobo, Guy McIntyre, Mike Jones and Alphonso Ellis, as well as home to former Criminole Charlie Ward, Former Auburn and Falcon RB William Andrews, former Tide star Eric Curry, and former Tech RB and current Buffalo Bill RB Joe Burns. I work in Tallahassee, Fl, a 30 minute commute from here. I just couldn't see myself living in Fla, ya know?? I am pretty close to co-workers who are "in the know" about the FSU program, and I am often shocked and angered by the lack of support for UGA in South Ga compared to the way some of these yahoos root for FSU. Indeed, FSU stays in Thomasville before every home game, and they have done that since Bobby Bowden arrived at FSU. When I first joined this message board, I was known as Dawgman68. That was when the site crashed for a while. When it returned, I was known as UnderDawg68. To tell the truth, I forgot about this site for a long time, then remembered it about 3 weeks ago and joined back up...Now I am UnderDog37........

I thought you might be someone that likewise frequented this site and was equally at odds with those that you mentioned...I do, however, remember your previous nicks...WELCOME BACK!!!!...

FWIW, I have fond memories of Thomasville, way back from 1973, when my alma mater, SWD High School traveled down there to beat, I believe Thomasville HS for the State Championships....Man that was one COLD night!!!!!

Seems that both the southern and south western boarders of Georgia are frequented by "others". I've heard that Albany is a hotbed of AU supporters....Gawd, I can't imagine supporting a wareagleplainmantiger!!!

Were you around for the water foul invasion from the WAC????

NC_Dawg, glad to be here. I am truly a lover of all SEC football. My study displays the helmets of all the SEC teams. Gators are my team as I am from Florida and my father taught at UF from '68 to '73. I was kid on the campus but knew of nothing else but GATORS.
Over the years I have grown to love all of SEC football and always love to passionately root for them during the bowls. I have never understood the hatred towards the Gators (more so than other SEC teams) by other SEC fans. It certainly can't be because of our dominance, etc. as Auburn and Alabama are better. I have concluded that Florida's location is outside of the true south. It's a southern thing and Florida doesn't count. The same reason my NASCAR loving friends have no interest in Grand Prix or Indy racing.

Oh, yes, I am sure it was Thomasville High that SWD beat in 1973. THS was the only game in town in those days. Sure, we had a team for the county, now known as Thomas Co. Central High, but they weren't good then. In 1974, THS won a mythical National Championship with former Atlanta Falcon William Andrews in the backfield. They had to beat Valdosta High 2 times to do it. Once in the regular season, and once in the state playoffs. That was an unheard-of thing back then. Since those days, Thomas County Cent. High has more than evened the score. 5 AAA championships in the 90s, and the one in 1993 was over Mike Bobo-led Thomasville High.

You are right about people in the Southwest area pulling for other teams. Although there are a lot of UGA fans in Albany, there are also a lot of AU and Alabama fans over there as well. Thomasville seems to be solidly FSU and UGA territory, with a smattering of UF and Miami (Thug U) fans. I have noticed that there are a lot more bandwagon UGA fans in Thomasville since the arrival of CMR, probably because he was an FSU coach. Valdosta is also solidly UGA. It's just always been a great dissappointment to me to go into stores in Thomasville, GA and be able to buy more FSU stuff than UGA, because the store managers say that FSU has more popularity in T'ville than UGA does.
