UGA/UF SHOWTIME

Great Post Buc!

I agree, the Cocktail Party WILL BE the game of the year! Not just in the SEC, in the entire Nation; better than Ohio State vs. USC. That said, I might NOT be as confident as some of you guys about this match-up. I dunno, I just expect the Gators to be even better this year, how can they not be? Tebow's a year older & wiser, Harvin just had heel surgery & MIGHT play pain free for the 1st time in his career. Their D cannot get worse, only better w/I think EVERYBODY returning plus some of these big-time recruits from the past 2 years. Not to mention the fact that the entire Gator Nation is still really, really UPSET w/UGA about the Dawg Party that broke out in the endzone during last year's game. I'm afraid it's gonna be hard for the Dawgs to match the emotional intensity of the Gators in the early part of the game; hopefully CMR can pull a real motivational gem out of his bag o' tricks?

Maybe, I'm just being pessimistic, but fact remains, we ain't beat the Gators 2 years in a row since way back in 1987 - 1989. We're long overdue, so maybe this year will finally be the repeat? Apparently Moody & Rainey at RB both looked great in the Spring Game yesterday although Moody did have a fumble near the goal line. This Rainey kid runs a sub-4.3s 40-yd. dash & I've heard their young safeties have looked much better this spring. On a positive, perhaps their run D still isn't up to par? Anyways, I hate the Gators as much as anybody, but I respect the hell outta their team, especially their speed & athleticism. We're gonna have our work cut out for us to get another W in Jax. no doubt. IMO, this is gonna be the 1 MUST WIN game for the Dawgs all season. Looking at our brutal schedule, I just don't see us surviving w/o at least 1 loss. Likewise, I don't expect UF to have another loss when I look at their schedule. We can lose 1 game, even in the SEC as long as we beat the Gators. I do think the Vols are going to be much better than everybody is giving em' credit for, but I don't see em' losing less than 2 SEC game & 1 of those losses had better be on 10/11/08. Regardless, winner of the Cocktail Party will most likely represent the SEC East, probably win the SEC Title, & may very well play for the Nt'l Championship.

I want a UGA win in this one as bad as any game I can remember in a long, long time. Unfortunately, I have no control whatsoever over the outcome of the game. I just hope to be barking at the top of my lungs from my endzone seats for 4 quarters & have enough energy left to celebrate an awesome victory down in Jacksonville. I will agree w/the comments regarding the Gators finally fearing the Dawgs as they should. That's very, very satisfying to see for the 1st time since the late 80's. Still, fear doesn't win or lose games; it's all about preparation, intensity, focus, and execution. If we can win in those categories, we can beat em' AGAIN!

GOOOOOO GEORGIA BULLDOGS!!!

Alright wlayton, I see you typed that last post in all CAPS. You were equally confident in the UGA-UF game last year & you were darn right, so I'm counting on your fearless prediction to come true once again. No worries now, wlayton has ensured another Dawgs Win in Jacksonville. Thank you sir! That's one down, now I can go back to worrying about SC, Ariz. State, BAMA, UT, LSU, & Auburn!

GooseDawg --

First off, rest assured that the only reason Moody looked anywhere near good is because he was playing against that pathetic Florida defense. Florida's D is nowhere near what it was under the Zooker, and whether that's Urban's recruiting for dollars or just poor DC work I don't know. Secondly, Florida is the type of team that looks GREAT until they play a team that doesn't care whether Tebow runs or not. The last two years, Tebow's done NOTHING against us, because our D doesn't care that he's Tim Tebow. In 2006, Chris Leak did more with his legs in that eked-out victory than Tebow did, and we all saw how many times The Big Lipton was on his back in '07. The only major score against us last year was that long pass where Reshad Jones gave up; our big weakness last year was supposed to be our secondary. Well, guess what? Reshad has matured according to all accounts during the off-season, and our secondary has gotten better.

I hate to say this because it seems like I'm downgrading our conference -- but let's face it, even in a down year like 2006 an SEC team still won the NC -- but SEC competition isn't going to be the hyped-up monster that it seems. It'll still be the best conference in the country, but Georgia's going up against tough names, not necessarily tough teams. I think LSU is going to hit a major stumbling block this year, as will Arkansas and Auburn. I heard Jerk Blurbstreit say during the O&B game that the SEC West would be the toughest division in all of college football this year and I just had to laugh. Really? The only team that's going to make a significant jump upwards this year is 'Bama, and they're jumping up from such a cellar it's no comparison. The SEC East is the toughest division in college football because it's the most stacked from top to bottom. But still, I think Florida's a year away (2009, watch out for the Gators...that mess is going to be SCARY), I think Tennessee's going down the tubes, and SCarolina is one or two years away from being a serious SEC East contender.

I've covered why Georgia can navigate this year's schedule undefeated if they play with the intensity that we know they can play with, and I stand by that. We're going to FLATTEN Tebow in Jacksonville, and that's for sure. The only thing that will stop us from winning the Cocktail Party this year is if our offense takes a dump like we did against SCarolina last year.

Totally agree with you dapolla......oh, BTW, worrying about our offense taking a dump like in the USC game last year......part of our offense's training supplements this year is Kaopectate (sp?):woohoo: :woohoo:
