Coach Richt . . . Valuable in Many Ways

16 years 8 months ago #13368 by Buc
wlayton, read in the AJC this afternoon where Coach Richt is supposed to be getting a raise. Think his salary right now is 2.2 mil a year. Times sure have changed. Also, think that he is the sixth highest paid coach in the SEC. I am all for Coach Richt and men of his character and expertise receiving just rewards. Thinking about when I was a teenager in the 50's what the price of things were. Everytime my wife and I go to the mall I always seem to come up with the quote . . . . . \"I remember when Levi's were $3.00.\" :P

averagedawg, I have worked my way around the internet (I'm retired, can do that) and everything that I read about Coach Searels is positive. You know, UGA had another graduate from Auburn and he made a positive mark on UGA. I have never felt closer to this program than I do now. Not \"just\" the winning (which is great) but the leadership on this athletic staff. Single biggest mistake FSU ever made was letting this guy out of Tallahassee.

Buc, one of the great stories in the SEC is the almost incestuous relationship between UGA and Auburn, how many great Georgia players have Auburn ties and vice versa.

Goose, these guys that are vying for playing time understand that nothing is promised. Speaks tons for the character and gamesmanship of these young men. Many of these young men could play opening day for many colleges, yet they have chosen UGA. For example, Carlton Thomas was highly recruited by two of the schools that I want to beat in no uncertain terms . . . . Notre Dame and Florida. When you are coming in at #3 or #4 on the depth chart, and know that, WOW, just WOW! Watching the clip does make the ankles ache a bit. Think I will watch it again, maybe I missed something. . . . .:P

Buc....pay CMR whatever he wants!! I don't think CMR puts that much emphasis on money, he's in to the \"whole package\" of what he's trying to do and accomplish at UGA with the young men and women he's associated with. Couldn't ask for a finer man to be in his leadership position.

He's still only the fifth highest paid coach in the SEC, I'd say that's a steal, wouldn't trade him for any of the others.
