Hey Buc. I was talking with my brother today. He's a friend of Coach Searels and was telling me how all our assistant coaches love working for CMR. He gives them quality family time.
We were thinking back to our youth. Do you remember the Darwin Holt hit on Chick Graning in the Bama/Tech game? I remember Bear saying \"I talked to the boy and he's sorry.\" Those guys were priceless.

averagedawg, I sure do. That caused a lot of problems between the two SEC (at that point the Bees were in the SEC)schools. That feud carried on for years. I remember guys like Billy Teas (sp) Billy Lotheridge, Pepper Rodgers and many others that were kicking our (Wally Butts) in the 50's. Sure glad that changed. I used to get the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sundays and go through all of the halftones of the football games. So much has changed. Back then Furman Bisher and Jesse Outlar were the editors for the two editions. I admired Coach Bobby Dodd as a man, much like our Coach Richt, willing and able to help the troops and fans. Thought maybe I would attach this little clip . . . let you know just how far back I do go. Sixty-seven my last birthday and still kicking butt . . .

sadlerdawg, I really enjoy reading the posts that you share with us on this board, have a special request. Tell us how you think the upcoming edition of the Dawgs will play out. Taking into consideration all things, schedule, rating, injuries, etc. Think with your knowledge of UGA, it would really be an interesting read.

As for the upcoming year, I expect big things from our Dawgs. It's funny, before this past season, we were all discussing our projections for the future and I posted that I was looking for 10-2 in 07 and 08 would be our NC year, and I still believe that. While I may have gotten lucky with 07's prediction, I fully believe we have the talent to run the table in 08. The challenge I see for the coaches will be to find that fine line between confidence and arrogance and make sure the players walk it each and every week. I still think we got a little cocky after spanking OSU and that's what did us in against USC. I don't see minor injuries playing much of a role, I think we have excellent backups at every spot. I think Coach Martinez has finally found what is necessary to make a defensive BEAST. The schedule is the biggest stumbling block I see. Not just ours, but the easier schedules of the likes of Southern Cal and the OSU and the usual suspects. 08 probably won't be the same as 07 with the top teams losing every week, so we are going to have to run the table, only lose 1 close one at the most. I think good checkpoints will be our first off week and after LSU. If we are 5-0 by our bye week (before UT), and we should be, we should have great confidence going into the meat of the schedule. Then, if no bad breaks happen, and we beat LSU in the bayou (which we should), I think the momentum will be unstoppable. Luckily, most of the players this year will be back, and they will know the agony of just missing out on the NC, and they will remember the perils of not being prepared for EVERY game. I'm really looking forward to the season, and I expect Coach Richt will bring us home the hardware he, and the team, and the entire Dawg nation, so richly deserves.

Buc, I could not agree more about the similarities between Dodd and Coach Richt. I hate GT but always admired Bobby Dodd as a man. Bryant was a functioning alcohlic, may he rest in peace. You got a few years on me, I'm 59.

Let's hear it for the \"old farts\". My father-in-law was with the University of Alabama at the end of his career. Dr. Quenzer had a hand in taking care of the athletes at the University. My wife and I spent a good amount of time in Tuscaloosa with her parents. That was many years ago, Tuscaloosa was quite small then. Hoping you read the post by Sadlerdawg. I found him to be on the mark, enjoy both sadlerdawg and wlayton, plus dapolla and the list goes on and on. Maybe you would consider doing what sadlerdawg did in this thread.
