Classy Player -- Appreciates Truth

Buc, I agree with sadlerdawg about our cockiness. It seems to rear its ugly head after an early victory. I too expect great things this year.
I expect Stafford to take charge and show some mature leadership. He's a Junior now so there are no excuses. He's got so much talent. I think this is the year for him to show us what a great QB he is. The stable is full of running backs. Our Oline has matured and we should have some better receivers. The receivers have dissapointed me a little the last few years. The one question mark is at center, those are some big shoes to fill with Velasco leaving.
The defense should be good. Curran's a beast and I think Coach Martinez's system is starting to work.
All in all, honestly we could win them all. I'll be a realist and say probably 11-1. I worry about that tough schedule. Hopefully these kids have fun, take them one at a time and stay focused. If we only lose one with our schedule, I don't know how we don't go to the NC game. I think we can win them all. We will be the team to beat so I expect the best from everyone we play, which is really what it's all about.
GO Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with all the posts on the upcoming season. Just a couple of other notes....we are going to REALLY miss Howard at DE. The 2 DE's will be somewhat of a question mark. Also agree with averagedawg about replacing Velasco...HUGE position replacment for the O-line. Also one other HUGE replacement will be to replace Coutu...I know we got a big time kicker coming in but he's uproven and a freshman...with pressure. As you all know, kickers are critical in the SEC.

Can't wait to see Caleb King and AJ Green along with RS freshman I. Troup. Believe these guys are going to be BIG TIME players for the Dawgs (and you know Stafford is loving those 2 recievers). Tough to go undefeated but STILL believe the season sets up well for us considering how tough the schedule \"looks\".

wlayton, Howard was a terror. Will miss him for sure. I am not sure who will be the starting DE's this season. I really, really hope that Cornelius Washington stays with his verbal and plays between the hedges. I further believe that he is going to be one of the best DE's in the country. A DE with 4.5 speed and the frame that he has, holy smokes . . . .

Velasco . . . what he meant to the Dawgs was enormous. I believe that he was what so many teams wish for. . . . a LEADER. He is definitely going to be a pro, lots of Sundays in this young mans life. I salute Velasco and what he did for the Red and Black. Hope that he makes millions. . . . . .

Jones . . . this guy is going to be a tremendous center. Read several articles about him and his abilities. Big frame, something like 6/2 and well over 300. What an animal this guy will be in short order, especially after working out in the UGA facilities. . . .facilities second to none.

Kicking always scares the pp out of me. The young fellow coming in has a tremendous leg, however, you are right, sometimes they are not through the uprights. Not often that way, sometimes. That is where the rubber meets the road. . . .once on campus, practicing under watchful eyes, with that tremendous leg, look out SEC. You can bet wlayton that MR was well aware of this scholarship offering, and I am glad that Blair Walsh accepted.

Remember this name, Carlton Thomas. For those that either saw or remember Buzzy Rosenberg at the University of Georgia, this young man is going to have folks out of their seats on kickoff returns. Remember this, I live in this area, this young man has very special talents. He will take more than one to the house.

You are so right that it is going to be \"extra\" tough to go undefeated, lots of folks looking for our scalp. Just take the attitude of the Patriots, (like them or not) one game at a time. Hoping that we get more feedback from the posters on this board, know that there are a lot of very knowledgable backers of the Red and Black. Go Dawgs!

Interesting little tidbit . . . . MR, not sitting on his haunches.

I am locking this topic down so the discussion about next season will get it's own thread. I think the original topic of the thread has had enough discussion but if I am wrong email me and I will unlock the topic.

You can cut and paste any messages from here to there or start a new message over in the new thread

Look for a thread called \"2008 Season by Sadlerdawg\".

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.
