He's going to be a great one and follow in some big footsteps...
FYI, he did miss a FG and and extra point in the Army Allstar game a week ago......had to be the holder's fault though.

wlayton, laying all of the cards on the table. . .he has missed some field goals, in high school. He will definitely get the coaching he needs at UGA to remedy that. Good kid, strong leg, smart and runs better than . . . . . ready for this . . . . a kicker should.

Buc, actually one of your biggest points is that the kid puts the ball in the end zone just about everytime. That is a stat that is largely overlooked but is HUGE. You may not NEED to kick as many FG's if your opponent has to go 80 everytime and your D can give the O the ball on the 40 every other possesion....then he will be kicking a bunch of extra points, not FG's.
Your point is very valid.

dapolla, I have seen every coach at UGA beginning with Wally Butts, and have probably seen my last one in Mark Richt if he stays for a lot of years. If I was asked to judge all of them, rate them, there is not a second thought in my mind that Coach Richt is head and shoulders above the others. Don't mean to be disrespectful, but Butts was a pound it out coach. He taught his players to hit folks in the mouth, and if that did not work the first time, do it again next play. Gritty guy worked his players hard. He did have Fran at the end of his tenure, and of course we all know that Fran loved to scramble and throw the pigskin.
Vince Dooley came onto the scene at a time when UGA was floundering. He righted the ship, got us into the Sun Bowl in the 60's and we all knew that he had turned the corner. My problem with Coach Dooley was that he had some talent that I feel was never used as it would be under Coach Richt for example. Dooley was three yards and a cloud of dust for far too long. I do know that VD was a better coach than administrator, by that I mean some of his hiring of head coaches. We had a \"true died in the wool BULLDOG\", by the name of Erk Russell that should never have left the UGA campus, and he proved his mettle when he took over the program at Georgia Southern. Sorry to get so long winded, and off of the topic a bit, just love UGA and anyone and anything that is associated with the school basically.

Buc, I agree Coach Richt is not only the best but also the classiest coach in the country.
Great kickers are a Dawg hallmark, think Kevin Butler. Long kickoffs are even more important with the new rules and when you're talking field position, well you know the rest.
I always admired Dooley's toughness. As a kid, I sort of remember Butts. That was back when Tech/Bama was a big rivalry. Tech used to own us back then.
Also give it to Rodney Garner, when he was at UT a lot of Georgia boys were ending up in Knoxville. He's a great coach and a great recruiter.
I couldn't be more excited about this year's team. Good Lord willing, we'll all see some great things in '08.
Go Dawgs!
