OK, the decisions have been made on this years college football standings. Regardless of which TV channel, or blog that we are watching or reading, nothing will change regarding the National Championship.
Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a UPI (United Press International) and the AP (Associated Press). At the end of the college football season, we would have two choices as to who we wanted to be the National Champion.
Guessing that not too much has changed in the past 50 years or so. By that I mean, there is still a lot of guessing. Until the Conferences decide to have a playoff for the National Title, there will always be this controversy. Never forget that money comes into play with these conference championships.
Many years ago, like back in the 1940's many of us in the South believed that UGA should have been the National Champion. While I was but a young sprout, I have always been close to my UGA history. Here we go . . . . if you believe that TV revenue, and all that comes with the game of football (both college and pro) does not influence ratings, then I think we might want to take another look.
Do I think that UGA should be in the BCS Championship game . . . that would be followed by a queston . . . do you think that THE Ohio State University should be in the Championship game. . . . This is not a game (BCS) that should be decided by either individuals or computers. My reasoning on this point would be this. . . .why have instant replay (5 minutes or so if we choose to call it instant) if we think that humans can get the calls right. There has to be a playoff, not any different than lower classifications in football. NBA playoffs, Major League Baseball, which also include divisional playoffs. Could go on and on, Ice Hockey, Soccer and any other sport that the paying public puts out the greenbacks for.
I appreciate the Georgia Football Team, they have come back this year with a lot of moxy. This group plays hard, aggressive football and have really picked up the pace the last half of this year. I am proud of what I see representing us between the HEDGES in Athens and elsewhere. Many of us think that we have a good chance to turn some heads next year, I believe this to be true.
I plan to be around this site for as long as the Good Lord allows, and to each of you, I say GO DAWGS!
