You know wlayton . . . . once upon a time, these young folks would jump at a chance to attend one of the \"football\" schools. So much has changed in my lifetime. More and more schools taking the game seriously, (not homecoming) fodder, (Vandy) for example. These athletes can take those trips and seriously keep both coaches and fans hanging. More and better athletes, more and more dollars being generated . . . . makes for both heartbreaking and jubilant signing days. As for the leather headgear, I did not miss it too far . . . . Sometimes when I fire up my 1993 TransAm 6-speed, I take a trip the back way going to Douglas after I pass through Jacksonville. Staying off of 75 and reliving my \"roots\" in South Georgia. Having walked behind a mule, rode mule driven wagon to Douglas for weekly supplies, tieing up at the Farmers Market just like the old western days. My uncles wagon, he never drove a car in his life. Stringing tobacco, chopping cotton. . . . .wait a minute, this is all about football. Tend to get carried away when I am among friends. . . . . By the way Miss UGA, this message was meant for you also . . . GO DAWGS!
