Ode to Gator Nation

I thought I'd share this with my fellow Dawgs as one last gloat before we focus 100% attention on Troy this weekend. These guys are BRILLIANT:

Year after year after the Gators beat the Dawgs, I am always overwhelmed by Dawg fans pulling out old stats as if trying to even the score. I never cared as I know in reality that it is just self therapy for them because the current loosing hurts so badly.
The funny thing is I found myself doing the same thing this past week. My girlfriend is a new Gator fan (3 years) and is a transplanted Yankee so I have had to give her a history lesson about SEC football. She asked me why Dawg fans hate the Gators so much. My short answer, “jealousy” but my long answer was this list that I put together so I thought I’d share.

1980’s (What Dawg fans live off of)
• Georgia won 8
• Florida won 2

1990’s
• Georgia won 1
• Florida won 9
• Georgia had 2 top ten finishes
• Florida had 7 top ten finishes
• Georgia average ranking at the end of each season was 31
• Florida average ranking at the end of each season was 6
• Georgia never won the SEC or a National Championship
• Florida won the SEC 4 times and the National Championship 1 time

2000’s (through last season)
• Georgia won 1
• Florida won 6
• Georgia had 3 top ten finishes
• Florida had 3 top ten finishes
• Georgia average ranking at the end of each season was 13
• Florida average ranking at the end of each season was 14
• Georgia won the SEC 2 times but not the National Championship
• Florida won the SEC 2 times and the National Championship 1 time

Sorry to live in the past but I’m sure that Dawg fans can relate. :laugh:

Good call but you forgot:

1980s:

Dawgs won three SEC Championships and one National Championship
Gators qualified for the SEC title one year but failed to win it because of NCAA probation

1970s:

Dawgs won 7
Gators won 3
Dawgs won one SEC Championship, Gators won 0.

I love how GatorinGA just forgets about UGA dominance in the 80s. It is almost as if the only thing the Dawgs did in that decade was beat Fla 8 times. :laugh:

Good job on setting the record straight dapolla.

Gators are already making excuses for Saturday's game, maybe anticipating a Vandy win? It's always easy to predict defeat, if you're wrong it's a pleasant surprise. I expect Vandy to hang around.

Believe they will too averagedawg. I would definitely take Vandy and the 16 points.....man, what are we missing on that spread?
