From Athens- Game day Friday 15-11-24

Good day All,

No idea what to expect or hope for from tomorrow's game.

My concern for the future of college football and what it evolves into is a pressing issue for me.

Much has been written about the effect of NIL and the transfer portal .... we have yet to see what the final product looks like....  I posted earlier that increasing the CFP to 12 would bring 3 times the political fallout and it definitely has. 

The number of teams will increase sooner than later.... Mega conferences and the increasing demand for more revenue will drive the model closer to a football version of March Madness.

Transfer portal was turbo charged with the addition of  NIL  seven figure salaries for college football players... add key injuries plus suspect coaching . Toss in the most difficult schedule in college football you can better understand our season.

Much of all the above led Saban to retire....  it is what it is....    continue to check on family and friends often....

Many people clamored for amateur players at the collegiate level to get paid.

Are they happy with the result?

I have no expectations that Georgia's offense will magically improve. It is what it is at this point.

The RB room has been decimated... I have never seen a group be so fragile. They could line Bell up back there again, but the WR's have been putrid and that won't help that group if they do that.

I stand by what I said before Ole Miss. This requires creativity from BoBo. Jet sweeps.. swing passes... something more than the bubble screen.

I have little confidence in all that.

TE's have been a non factor... receivers can't get separation or ya know... catch.

The O is what it is barring some sort of miraculous transformation.

So we come down to the atmosphere and the defense being too much for Tennessee. This is completely doable.

I hope it happens because UGA this closely removed from the successes of the past 3 years being unable to make a 12 team playoff field would be unconscionable.
