Go Dawgs!
From Athens - Friday Thoughts 05-04-19 was created by yankeedawg1
Good Morning All,
Really don’t like writing about the bad behavior by players on our football team…
But …. Here is my two cents worth….
Buc…. Covered it pretty well in his two recent posts…
HS players have a huge adjustment when it comes to adjusting to college life… this is true with any D5 university…..
For many of these teenagers it is the first extended time away from home…
Classes and practice leave very little social time…
Many arrive with no idea of what it means to lose their HS status of being the guy…. they haven’t been challenged during their entire HS career….
Now as second year players they are faced with dealing with a freshman player coming in and competing for PT… taking away from what they feel they gained as freshman……
Cold shower ….. that your future as a star player is dimming….
You see your dreams of playing in the NFL start to fade…
Hard questions to yourself….. do I listen to coaches and work harder?
And compete …. Or do I look at transfer…. To another program were my
Talent is at a level were I will be the starter……..
Leaving weed in plain sight on your dresser in your dorm room…
Well saying it as kindly as I can….
It raises the level of stupid…. By any measure… imho….
Screams of daring the HC to take some kind of disciplinary action…
I agree with Buc ….. transfers and or dismissals are very much an option..
As always…bad news gets more play and attention than good…
Heads love the red meat….. in-depth…. Dissecting exactly what’s wrong with our program and why HC and staff are having these problems…
Much more could be written as to the why’s…..
To me ….. classic example…..
No easy questions… and fewer easy answers…
Trust in Kirby ….. the process continues…..
Master’s is next weekend ….. Easter arrives shortly thereafter….
Pause and give thanks…… Blessed…
Have a great weekend and a safe week…..
As always “Go Dawgs"

First time that I can remember our team with this much depth on campus and young men that are highly rated and committed to Georgia not yet in Athens.
Believe I can say that Georgia now has the right to say and feel that we are on a comparable level with any team in the country. Amazes me really . . . . members like sadlerdawg and others were openly calling for the removal of MR and the hiring of Kirby Smart. Kirby Smart's name was often placed in print on this site as the #1 choice. Members like sadlerdawg and others in my opinion had as much to do with the selection of Smart as any site that follows UGA Football.
Prior to Smart and Company, if we lost one or two of our better players, gloom and doom would set in across most of the sites covering our team. While it bothers me now when I see talent being a bit misguided, I do not get the same feeling(s) that I had prior to Smart and Company when one or two players could have an adverse effect on Saturday football if they misbehaved. That I guess comes with better recruiting habits . . . . seems that way to me. When I look at National Championship Teams over the years and I see where we stack up looking at the numbers, don't like what I see.
So, here is where I am now with Georgia Football . . . . Coaching has to be the next step in UGA's moving forward. Talent level seems to be on solid footing. Coach Smart is now coaching young men that are on campus because he has the final yes or no vote on player talent.
2019 talent in Athens has to make the Final Four. No excuses as Wartdawg and growl have often said in closing on Dawgs.com.
Coach'em Up . . . .

“We tell guys all the time that this is a privilege, it is a privilege to be a part of University of Georgia football,” Smart said. “I don’t know that some of our guys realize that, and I’ll be honest with you, I think sometimes you don’t realize it until the privilege is lost.”
Above words from Kirby Smart . . . . Coach is serious, I do not doubt that for one second. Not going to be surprised to see one or two departures. Say again . . . . BMOC does not carry over from high school to a Smart football team. Too much depth on this team to put up with a lot of BS. Some players stay for a short time and leave for the NFL, some stay for a short time because they have their heads up their rears. Part of coaching players up is now being addressed by Smart and Company.

Old mentor told don’t worry about losing a problem customer...
Give them to your competitors.....as they will always be a problem..
Regardless of how hard you try to please..
Absolutely truth...
One bad Apple will definitely spoil a barrel..or more..
I Want players who want to be in Athens..
Players like Nate McBride.... keeps lip buttoned..
Works tail off on special teams.... absolutely a terror on kick coverage ....
Pete Rose .... type player hustle......middle name
All this noise....HC... will reign in....part of being successful...
Go Dawgs
Will flat hit you ....

Under normal circumstances it is never good to compare players attitudes, however . . . . I personally feel that an attitude like the one(s) offered by Nate McBride below show what "team first" attitudes mean. Nate McBride was a BMOC in high school, Nate however shows a lot of maturity and . . . . BMOC does not guarantee ANYTHING when faced with coaches that see that attitude too often and act accordingly.
Thanks Nate . . . .
