From Athens- Friday Thoughts

Good Day All,

Just a brief word about recruiting….. a huge Classic City Welcome to those recruits who picked Athens as the place to continue their education and football careers…… and to those who made choices to go elsewhere the best of luck to you and your careers…..

The stark reality is we are not going to sign every recruit we focus on…

Every other college recruiting players deal with the very same thing…. Same with the last minute flips…. Part of the process…..

I want players who want to come and play for Georgia ….. Heart and mind both….. imho it is these recruits who will advance the program to the higher levels we seek……. Judging on recruiting successes we are closer to this goal than we have been in recent years…..

Truly miles ahead in so many ways with our program….. love it…

Also very happy that CKS received his much deserved raise…. Class act ..

Acknowledged his coaching staff and fans ….. how truly thankful he is to be at Georgia….. just feels right……

Heads flapping away….. nothing new…..

Comes down to playing time for sure. Will be interesting to see how those leaving the program turn out (progress) at another college. Have not seen or heard a single comment from those leaving complain about academics being the reason. Smart and Company have proven in a short time that more could and should be expected from the extensive talent base in Athens. As has been repeated over and over, there has never been a lack of talent wearing the Red and Black, other reasons form in my head.

Might be that I am one of the few that thinks our defense will not fall off when compared to the 2017 group. Many times just how good a defense is relies on a good offense and special team(s) play. Another lesson that has been much improved since Kirby arrived . . . . Special Team(s).

Come Fall the practices in Athens are going to be run like well oiled machines. Our offense is going to big and powerful and Swift is going to be all that running behind this year's offensive line, as will any back that gets playing time.

Here is hoping that the young pups will keep their noses clean, Kirby Smart and Company will not put up with some of the sins of the past.
